This holiday season, you deserve to treat your travel wishlist to first-class experiences without the wallet-denting price tag. As you're planning out next year's holiday season, consider using airline miles and points to help you save.
And, as you likely already know, some award currencies offer better value during peak times. Thankfully, NerdWallet analyzed flight prices for travel between December 22 and 29, comparing cash and miles rates.
NerdWallet updates its rewards valuations every year, considering both peak and non-peak travel periods. To get the value of an airline mile, the cash price of a flight is first reduced by the typical taxes and fees, usually $5.60 for one-way tickets within the US. The remaining amount is then divided by the number of miles required for the same ticket. Multiplying that by 100 yields the cent value of an airline mile.
Airlines with the best deals
