Team Work makes the Dream Work! Remember one punch contains different sizes of fingers, and a punch is enough!

I was attending a corporate training few years back, it was about team leadership. Those days I was playing role of Manager for my team. During a class discussion on team delivery related topic, I told trainer "Like there is about 20% Oxygen in air, there are only 20% of actual very dedicated and very productive team mates in a team..." Most of other trainees agreed to my lines! It was my observation and learning which I gained working closely with team.

Today I am elaborating more on comparison of air content and team content similarities. According to me this is first such theory in this world... and I am publishing it on LinkedIn..!

Refer the image of this article while going through below points.

  1. Necessity Driven Team Mates (N2 in the Air) : There are high number of team mates which are working on project just because of some personal reasons... just like economic or other interests such as promotion, need to show status etc etc. They don't really like the work they are doing, its just due to necessity they are trying best to work!
  2. Pillar Team Mates (O2 in the Air) : There are approximate 1/5th size of team who actually love working for growth of nation, vision of organization, team and lastly for themselves. They are passionate towards work and learning new things. They are few who actually are backbone of team work. You will find if such team mate is absent for some time in team, there is feeling of team is loosing something... delay in delivery etc etc. I really like to call them oxygen of the team.
  3. Binder Team Mate (Ar in the Air) : There is always at-least one person in any team who is not really productive directly, but is well wisher and well visible. You can say s/he is manager! Argon is a versatile industrial gas used in welding applications, such as the welding of specialty alloys, and in the production of light bulbs and lasers. Like that, this person actually keeps team together.
  4. Fuel Team Mate (H2 in the Air) : There is always at-least one person in any team who is actually acts like fuel for many motivational activities for all. S/he will be thinking of picnic, comp-off, dinner plan if we stay in office for more working-hours to complete deliverable tasks... Believe me this person actually helps team in other ways!
  5. Neutral Team Mate (Kr in the Air) :  A colorless, odorless, tasteless noble gas is known as krypton (Kr). There is always a team mate who is useless for delivery, but person manage his/her presence in such a way that they get all benefits of team success without much efforts.
  6. Very Friendly Team Mate (CH4 in the Air) :  There is always atleast one team mate who acts as environment friendly. They are highly adaptive to changing environment. This kind of team mates always has a positive story to tell on any negative thing happened with team. And we must remember - it's real painful when your best friend becomes your worst enemy. It applies for CH4 too!
  7. No Ownership Team Mate (He in the Air) : There is always atleast one team mate who actually never takes any delivery seriously or even sincerely. S/he is wise enough to change colors, where all team mates are working towards delivery. Automatically delivery will happen even if s/he will not take ownership of the work.
  8. Shiny Team Mate (Ne in the Air) : The gas that makes Las Vegas shine is Neon gas. These kind of team mates makes themselves more visible by innovative ideas, smart thinking and more other ways. They might not be running in marathon, but most of the times they win gold medals when its prize ceremony.

9. Damaging Team Mate (CO2 in the Air) : These kind of team mates are pollution in the team, which is key for team politics, team conflicts etc. Generally rest team mates leave organization as they have demand in market and most of them have skills to take different opportunities; but CO2 kind of team mates are weak inside - they can't leave certain organizations as they will not sustain in other places as they don't have required knowledge. I always says that how big, expensive and hygiene your house may be, without a in-house washroom it is of no worth!

Many times if its small team then multiple characteristics of team can be seen in one team mate, in bigger team size these kind of team sub-groups can be easily identified.

It requires skills by Ar (Manager), how s/he directs each team mate towards vision.

Shekhar PawarThis? is? very? inventive? and a? creative transfer of one concept? to? another. Your diagram lends? itself? to an active? "stand up and walk around"? exercise in the training room when? people? could self classify themselves? and others. You might? also think about putting? your concept? into a? sort of questionnaire rather like Belbin. And? of course? key? questions for participants could be "what? does? one air type" not like? about another? -and more? difficult, "what? does? one? air type need? to? do to get on better? with another _ and vice? versa. Brilliant Shekhar! Thank? you? for? sharing. Take? this further.I? think you? have? a? winner!

Great stuff interesting analogy yeah i can vouch for this personally as i have witnessed such ''airy"elements in my long career having worked with multiple teams in various industries and every industry has it s own dynamics and brings a different set of these elements with entirely different set of permutation and combination of these airy elements .
