AIO Buzz: 100+ more countries with AIOs, Meta is developing a search engine, and more

At SE Ranking, we’re keeping close track of the latest trends in AI-driven search! We’re also sharing valuable insights with the SEO community and keeping up with popular SEO conversations across social media. Here’s a look into some key topics surrounding AI Overviews and more.

Sundar Pichai recently shared his AI Overviews October Updates titled "AI Overviews in Search are Expanding Globally" and commented:

"Since launching AI Overviews earlier this year, people have been asking a whole new universe of questions. With today’s expansion to 100+ countries, AI Overviews will reach 1B+ users globally. More exciting things for Search ahead!"

The post is fresh but the SEO community is already beginning to pick up on key insights.

One user going by the name of TestingCatalog News posted another bold headline referencing the same update:

"NEWS: Google rolled out AI Overviews in 100+ more countries"?

Gagan Ghotra highlighted a noteworthy quote from the article on his X page:

"Google - "Helping people discover content from publishers, businesses and creators remains central to our approach with AI Overviews in Search"

Glen Gabe also did not miss this news:

“They're expanding again, but this time to 100+ countries. Whoa -> AI Overviews in Search are coming to more places around the world

"With this latest expansion, AI Overviews will reach more than 1 billion global users every month."

And languages → "As part of this update, we’re also extending language support across the? board. If you’re in any country with AI Overviews, you can now get them in any of the currently supported languages, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish."

We're eager for new updates from the search giant and to watch the continued expansion of AI technologies!

The Information: "Exclusive: Meta is developing a search engine so its ChatGPT competitor can give answers about current events and reduce its reliance on Google."

Ashutosh Shrivastava, when referring to The Information's post , gave a rather apt comment and set the tone for more future posts on the subject of search engines:

“Google search will not survive this

Perplexity

SearchGPT

Now Meta is coming up with its own search engine.”

Lily Ray, a keen observer of AIO innovations, recently highlighted the importance of link freshness in Google’s snippet generation, commenting:

“Oh look, now it's my own writing being AI'd in AI Overviews lol

Too bad the AI Overview is lacking context, like providing details about the most recent changes to the QRG (my article is from 2 years ago)

It also doesn't understand that E-A-T + E = E-E-A-T”

Joy Hawkins pointed out how AIO content can change significantly with only a slight change in search query formulation:

“Crazy how different these AI Overviews are, considering the terms I entered have the exact same meaning.”

*For additional context, see Joy Hawkins' post, which includes screenshots.

That’s the latest on AI Overviews and SearchGPT. We’ll continue monitoring this subject for more conversations and developments. Stay tuned for more updates!
