This recession is different than any other recession you've been through ... and worse than any recession your Daddy or Mama went through.
Thursday's unemployment report showed that an additional 1.9M workers made initial unemployment filings, bringing the total to 42.6M initial filings since the beginning of the US Covid crisis. This is more than 25% of the US workforce, and is expected to increase average May unemployment numbers (up from almost 15% in April).
For the past 11 weeks, jobless claims have been in the millions each and every week. Compare this to pre-Covid, when the DOL had never seen even one week of jobless claims over 1M.
What makes this recession so tough is how the job market switched from the best job environment of our lifetimes, to the worst ... overnight.
This becomes difficult for many job seekers who haven't learned that successful resume/job search strategies during a recession (especially one as tough as now) are very different than what's successful during a strong job market. So most job seekers continue to search the way they're used to searching, but that process fails to help them find jobs during this recession.
How can you tell? If you're not getting interviews when you're qualified, if you're seldom advancing in the process, if you're being ghosted, or if you're being told that decisions are being held off, you're probably blaming this on the recession. But it's really how your resume/job search has reacted to the recession that's usually the cause.
If you want to learn what will work to help you find a job during the recession, let me show you.
This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.
That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers in March, April, May and will receive offers in June.
As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.
I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that get screened out by ATSs and eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.
But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome unemployment for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to beat unemployment (even if you're over 40) and find a great job during the recession by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.
(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a great job during the recession, especially if you're between jobs.
