Artificial Intelligence as Counterfeiting Humanity: Criminalizing Counterfeiting Human Intelligence Technology (CHIT)

[Counterfeit - v. "imitate fraudulently", fake forge, copy, reproduce, replicate, imitate, simulate; n. "a fraudulent imitation of something else", fake, forgery, copy, reproduction, replica, imitation, likeness; adj. "made in exact imitation of something valuable with the intention to deceive or defraud, fake, faked, copied, forged, feigned, simulated, sham]

Introduction into the Truth World

AI as Human AI or Artificial Human Intelligence or Human-Competing Intelligence or Counterfeiting Brain/Mind/Intelligence/Humanity must be outlawed or disrupted by Real Machine Intelligence and Learning about the omniverse reality, physical, mental, social, virtual or digital.

The fundamental reason: "There’s No Artificial Intelligence but Machine/Computer/Digital Intelligence and Learning" (MIL)

The existential reason: “AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can pose profound risks to society and humanity, as shown by extensive research and acknowledged by top AI labs”. Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter is signed by 33707 AI stakeholders.

The human-like, anthropomorphic terms like "artificial intelligence", "machine learning", “neural networks”, “deep learning,” "training data", "humanoid AI robots:, etc., might be one of the most amoral mass marketing scams and consumer frauds of all time, raking in billions or trillions of dollars to its key beneficiaries, like Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta or Tesla.

The world has counterfeit money, documents, designer items, food, drinks, medicines, or personal care products, now we have counterfeit AI products, goods and services. The counterfeit booming industry is considered the largest illicit trade in the world, with?$2 trillion worth of counterfeit products sold to consumers annually, impacting up to 5.4m jobs, according to the National Crime Prevention Council. Counterfeiting is "a fraudulent imitation (a forgery) of a trusted brand and product, and it is a serious crime. Under U.S. federal law, for example, criminal counterfeiting offenses can be punished by life in prison and up to $30,000,000 in fines".

Meanwhile, led by big tech, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta and Tesla, the largest AI companies by market capitalization,?57, have the?total market cap:?$15.673 T due to the fake AI brand equity, impacting 300 million full-time jobs, as to Goldman Sachs (The Potentially Large Effects of Artificial Intelligence on Economic Growth).

[Trans-AI: How to Build True AI or Real Machine Intelligence and Learning]

We proceed with our evidence that all Big Tech AI, with its subsidiaries and startups, like as OpenAI, is a Ponzi Scheme, "an investment fraud that pays existing investors with funds collected from new investors". And we insist on the argumentation that the Big Tech Fake AI must be outlawed as a pseudoscience, a big lie, massive fraud, overhype and existential threat, all in one, to be disrupted with Real. True, Human-Complete AI, MIL Science and Technology.?

The goal of Global AI Big Tech class actions is that "Giant AI Experiments" should be criminalized, not just paused as it is requested in "Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter" (33707 signatures).

Introduction

Today's AI/AHI technologies in the forms of machine learning and deep learning, deep neural networks and large language models, as Google's Bard or Microsoft's ChatGPT-4, are sophisticated GIGO data processing platforms threatening to deluge cyberspace with the deep fakes of all modalities, text, images, video, audio, paintings, songs, poems, films, and digital human twins.?

The future could remember us for creating a great flood of misinformation and deep fakes destroying our post-truth civilization unless we destroy its emerging source.

The U.S. Copyright Office is contending with generative AI image systems indiscriminately?scraping?the web for pictures, raising questions about?intellectual property?rights and protections.

Italy, a pioneer in Western AI regulation, banned the Microsoft-backed OpenAI ChatGPT-4 chatbot due to?alleged breaches of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?privacy rules and age-verification practices.

This decision has prompted other?European privacy regulators to scrutinize ChatGPT?and other AI tools closely.

An influential group of scientists and tech innovators, including?OpenAI?co-founder Elon Musk and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, signed an open letter urging AI labs to pause the training of AI systems more powerful than?GPT-4?for at least six months.

Furthermore, the Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) filed a complaint with the FTC, asking it to investigate OpenAI and halt the development of?large language models (LLMs)?for commercial purposes. [Tidal Wave of Regulatory Actions Hits Generative AI: Unraveling the Implications and Future of AI Legislation]

Besides, there is the horrendous topic of how dirt-cheap labor in Africa and India is exploited to feed a fake counterfeiting AI with human-labeled examples of violence, hate speech, child sexual abuse, bestiality, murder, suicide, torture, self harm, and incest. [Exclusive: OpenAI Used Kenyan Workers on Less Than $2 Per Hour to Make ChatGPT Less Toxic].

From Fake Accounts to Fake Al

Fake or counterfeiting accounts (FCAs) are a key problem on all social media platforms. For social media counterfeiters can:

  • Register fake profiles and pages containing the original brand name.
  • Offer for sale counterfeit products through their accounts, pages or in groups.
  • Advertise their fake products through social media ads, luring you to their illicit websites with flash sales for items that turn out to be fakes.
  • Tag their fake products with luxury brand names so that they appear in your searches.

Facebook erased 1,3 billion fake accounts only in 2021. Instagram found 95 million and Twitter - 20 million. FCAs could be reported, including FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) or Europol.

Besides, there are fake game apps and pirated video games and fake mobile applications, when you receive an unexpected SMS, a strange alert or notification, or unusual requests from what may seem to be your bank or other familiar brand: criminals are trying to rip you off.

Today, in the age of artificial intelligence and machine learning, the whole idea of counterfeiting and faking is getting a new scale and scope, level and complexity.

Human intelligence, cognition and mind, body and brain, behavior and actions and interactions are becoming the subjects of mass counterfeiting, like as "counterfeit products?are fakes or unauthorized replicas of the real product".

Humans as Counterfeit Products

The counterfeiting of human beings in the forms of AI/ML/DL/ANNs is a much more concern than the CFAs as it brings existential risks to humans as a species.

We observe the fast emergency of new type of emerging technology, Counterfeiting Human Intelligence Technology (CHIT). It imitates human intelligence, behavior, tasks, and intellectual content as training data, appearing as a serious economic threat to industries, workforce, and the overall economy.

In all, the CHIT is classified into three main types:

  • Narrow CHIT or Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), which has a narrow range of abilities.
  • General CHIT or Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), which is on par with human capabilities.
  • Superhuman CHIT, Artificial SuperIntelligence (ASI), which is more capable than a human.

It is quite reasonable that "a survey of artificial intelligence researchers found that 36 per cent believe AIs could cause a catastrophe on the scale of nuclear war".

WHY COUNTERFEIT AI POSES A THREAT TO SOCIETY

A human-mimicking AI is probably one of the most harmful fakes in science and technology and detrimental counterfeits in human life, creating significant safety and security threats and existential risks.

It features in articles, books, politician speeches, and the big tech products and services, from Microsoft/OpenAI to Alphabet/Google to Meta/Facebook, creating a multi-trillion fake AI industry.

As to?PwC’s Global Artificial Intelligence Study: Exploiting the AI Revolution, such a human-imitating AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion1 to the global economy in 2030.

According to Gartner, 1 out of 3 corporations claimed to have implemented AI “in some form”.

As a matter of fact, there is no real and true Artificial Intelligence in existence, if only as counterfeit products and services.

Today's AI impersonated as Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Neural Networks or NLP, is essentially Applied Mathematics,?Statistics,?and Probability theory, Automated Predictive Analytics and Statistical Software Libraries, Big Biased Data Web Scraping and Big Compute, having nothing with human intelligence and learning, if only produced by it.

Neural Networks, which are sold interchangeably as AI, Deep Learning or Machine Learning, are in fact an iterated sequence of matrix multiplications.

And AI/ML/DL models and algorithms do not have an embedded model of the world that can reliably distinguish between the truth and the lies.

Today's AI is not only a commercial hype, but a commercial fraud [of imitating human?intelligence by counterfeit?quasi-intelligent services and products] on a multi-billion commercial scale.

Counterfeit products?range from high-end consumer luxury goods such as?watches, perfumes or leather goods, to business-to-business products such as electronics, machines, chemicals or spare parts, to common consumer products such as toys, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foodstuffs.

Now, counterfeit goods and services include overhyped digital technologies, AI/ML/DL technologies, as LLMs, humanoid robots and?synthetic humans.

The mainstream AI technology, as large language models (LLMs), involves the internet data piracy with massive copyright infringement (compilation). It is extracting private digital content and data (an artist’s, author’s, or musician’s copyrights, personal data, intellectual property, or confidential data), scraping, scanning, downloading or copying the private and public web data without paying and without permission.?

Meantime, "to?counterfeit?means to imitate something authentic, with the intent to steal, destroy, or replace the original, for use in illegal transactions, or otherwise to deceive individuals into believing that the fake is of equal or greater value than the real thing.?Counterfeit products?are fakes or unauthorized replicas of the real product. Counterfeit products are often produced with the intent to take advantage of the superior value of the imitated product".

"Counterfeiting?is a fraudulent imitation (a forgery) of a trusted brand and product, and it is a serious crime.?Under U.S. federal law, for example, criminal counterfeiting offenses can be punished by life in prison and up to $30,000,000 in fines".?

"Globalisation has brought new business opportunities, but it has also brought big threats to industry, exposing supply chains to fraudsters, attacks and disruption. As a result, the production and distribution of counterfeit goods have become an urgent and increasingly critical worldwide issue". "The trade in counterfeit and pirated goods is a major challenge in an innovation-driven global economy" (Europol).?

A Double Fake AI

The CHIT systems are a double fake AI, faking human intelligence as well as counterfeiting human content.

"The Washington Post set out to analyze one of these data sets to fully reveal the types of proprietary, personal, and often offensive websites that go into an AI’s training data. It is known as?Google’s C4 data set, a massive snapshot of the contents of 15 million websites that have been used to instruct some high-profile English-language AIs, called large language models, including Google’s T5 and Facebook’s LLaMA. (OpenAI does not disclose what datasets it uses to train the models backing its popular chatbot, ChatGPT).

The data set was dominated by websites from industries including journalism, entertainment, software development, medicine and content creation, helping to explain why these fields may be threatened by the new wave of artificial intelligence.

The three biggest sites were?patents.google.com No. 1, which contains text from patents issued around the world;?wikipedia.org No. 2, the free online encyclopedia; and?scribd.com No. 3, a subscription-only digital library. Also high on the list:?b-ok.org No. 190, a notorious market for pirated e-books that has since been seized by the U.S. Justice Department.

At least 27 other sites identified?by the U.S. government?as markets for piracy and counterfeits were present in the data set.

Two sites in the top 100,?coloradovoters.info No. 40?and?flvoters.com No. 73, had privately hosted copies of state voter registration databases. Though voter data is public, the models could use this personal information in unknown ways.

Business and industrial websites made up the biggest category (16 percent of categorized tokens), led by?fool.com No. 13, which provides investment advice. Not far behind were?kickstarter.com No. 25, which lets users crowdfund for creative projects, and further down the list,?patreon.com No. 2,398, which helps creators collect monthly fees from subscribers for exclusive content.

Kickstarter and Patreon may give the AI access to artists’ ideas and marketing copy, raising concerns the technology may copy this work in suggestions to users. Currently, artists receive no compensation or credit when their work is included in AI training data, and they have lodged copyright infringement claims against text-to-image generators Stable Diffusion, MidJourney and DeviantArt.

The Post’s analysis suggests more legal challenges may be on the way: The copyright symbol — which denotes a work registered as intellectual property — appears more than 200 million times in the C4 data set".

Inside the secret list of websites that make AI like ChatGPT sound smart

Humans as Digital Copies/Twins

"A human is defined by what an AI or machine could never do", and vice versa, "an AI or machine is defined by what a human could never do".

Both sides have their singularities:

the singularity of the living and humans vs. the singularity of machine intelligence.

Imitating human minds or counterfeiting humans, creating robots and AIs as humans in disguise, we risk to loose the singularity of human beings to the technological singularity because human-like machines are replacing our brains, not just our brawn, leaving nothing for humans to do, while learning to make ever better machines.

Today your personal data live in the cloud, tomorrow - your body, brain and mind could move to the cloud, as digital twins/doubles, modeled and learned from all the data you have ever generated in your interactions with the digital world, from desktop computers and Web sites and social platforms and blog posts and comments and likes and hates to wearable devices and sensors in the environment such as smart speakers, thermostats, cell-phone towers and video cameras.

Real AI vs. Fake AI

All in all, all today's AI in the forms of ML, DL, ANNs, or LLMs, as LaMDA, ChatGPT, Bard or Google Search, are largely double fake CHIT applications, counterfeiting both human cognitive functions as well as human-created content. .

We have created an AI hype and AI buzzwords, with all sorts of deep fake AI institutions, organizations, researchers and developers, AI scientists and AI engineers, all as parts of CHIT

Moreover, we have DF AI fathers and mothers and gurus, big data gurus, ML gurus, DL gurus.

Add here all sorts of global AI forums and conferences with self-paid and self-designated AI speakers.

In reality, most of them have no idea what a real AI is all about, its true nature, its genuine scope, its actual scale and all possible impact.

Much ado about …the unknown unknown, led by the big tech fake AI and the big fake media.

The only thing is missed here, AI itself. It is impersonated as statistic ML or numeric DL or data analytics or big data.

For AI is nothing but “a science and engineering of cognition, intelligence, intellect, reason, learning, understanding, or mind effectively interacting with any environment”.

As things stand, there are no real AI researchers or developers or engineers or gurus as such.

This all is yet to come, but only when the first real AI models start existing.

Again, whoever is pretending for some leadership, should see and know Machine Intelligence and Learning as the most integrative general-purpose technology combining most emerging technologies, as

narrow AIs, statistic ML,

general AI, HLMI,

Robotics, Smart Automation,

the Internet of Things,

5–6 G,

biometrics,

AR (augmented reality)/VR (virtual reality),

blockchain,

NLP (natural language processing),

and quantum computing.

When Will We Achieve AI and When Will We Achieve ASI?

Real/Nonhuman AI/AGI/ASI is to be achieved by 2025 due to its scientific reality. Fake/Human AI/AGI/ASI - never to be achieved due to the very unreality to simulate the unknown knowns, human brain/mind/intelligence, the dark brain matter and dark mind energy, all in one.

Let me repeat it. There are two radically different types of AI, ANI, AGI, ASI: Real AI vs. Fake AI.

Real/True/Genuine AI, AGI, ASI, implying reality and causality, data and knowledge, algorithms and computation, software and hardware, and all possible interactions with the world, as effective, efficient and sustainable.

Fake/False/Counterfeit AI, ANI, AGI, ASI, which is human-like, human-level or superhuman AI

No alt text provided for this image

Again, today's AI is the Fake AI/ML/DL simply mimicking, replicating, or counterfeiting all what could be human, in isolated, fragmented ways:

Body. Humanoid robots

Brain. ANNs/DNNs

Perception. Machine perception

Language. LLMs/NLP/NLG

Cognition. Cognitive computing

Behavior. Behavior-based robotics

Human tasks, from writing to driving.

What is missing is real intelligence, implying reality and causality, data and knowledge, with all possible interactions with the world.

That’s why all the current attempts towards a Human-Level and Human-Like AGI, as large language models power applications like LLaMA, ChatGPT, Bing AI, and Bard, GPT-4 and Dalle-E, Bert, AlphaFold and AlphaStar, are NOT examples of breakthrough AI systems, but samples of counterfeit human AI/AGI/ASIs.

THE FIRST REAL AI MODEL FOR NARROW AI, ML, DL, AGI, ASI, AND HUMAN INTELLIGENCE

Real Artificial Intelligence (RAI) Science and Technology is set to change how our world works and humans live, study, work, and play.

RAI is the main engine of the new total digital revolution, scientific and technological, social and economic, cultural and religious.

The COVID-19 crisis has accelerated the need for human-machine digital intelligent platforms facilitating new knowledge, competences and workforce skills, advanced cognitive, scientific, technological, and engineering, social, and emotional skills.

In the AI and Robotics era, there is a high demand for the scientific knowledge, digital competence, and high-technology training in a range of innovative areas of exponential technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics, data science and big data, cloud and edge computing, the Internet of Thing, 5G, cybersecurity and digital reality.

The combined value – to society and industry – of digital transformation across industries could be greater than $100 trillion over the next 10 years.

“Combinatorial” effects of AI, ML, DL, Robotics with mobile, cloud, sensors, and analytics among others – are accelerating progress exponentially, but the full potential will not be achieved without the collaboration between humans and machines.

“Building a Synthesized Machine Intelligence and Learning (MIL) as a Global AI by 2025”.

Conclusion

CHIT poses a serious threat to society, and it's important to take action to prevent its use. Real AI-based detection systems are needed to identify counterfeit machine learning applications, neural network products, and deep learning services. Regulating artificial intelligence can be incredibly useful in society, but it's important to ensure that the right language model structures are in place to prevent biased or human-made AI. The stakes are high, and it's time to take the threat of counterfeit AI/ML/DL/NNs seriously.
