April marked a monumental achievement for Snowflake as it unveiled Snowflake Arctic, a cutting-edge open-source large language model (LLM) specifically crafted to be the most accessible and enterprise-ready LLM on the market. Arctic surpassed leading open models like DBRX, Llama 2 70B, and Mixtral-8x7B in various benchmarks, all while being brought to market at a fraction of the cost and in record time. This groundbreaking development heralds a new era of enterprise AI, an era in which Snowflake is committed to pushing the boundaries to make LLMs more accessible and cost-effective for the community.?
This isn’t Snowflake’s first rodeo in the world of AI. Snowflake Cortex, a fully managed service that makes building AI apps within Snowflake easy and secure, was announced last year. Two recent partnerships with AI startups Reka and Mistral AI have bulked up Snowflake Cortex by bringing more LLMs into the Snowflake platform.?
Snowflake’s AI ecosystem also features a key player in the industry – NVIDIA. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced an expanded collaboration with Snowflake during his keynote at the company’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC). The match made in AI heaven was first announced at last year’s Snowflake Summit – the expansion further powers generative AI applications and enhances model performance and scalability.
