Here, we try to understand AIH (Artificial-Intelligence-Human) in present context of global stability and peace. Please read the below given definitions visualizing current Geopolitical tension and human sufferings.

What is artificial?

Artificial refers to something that is “not natural” or occurring in a spontaneous or unassisted manner. When used in the context of technology and intelligence, "artificial" often refers to the creation or simulation of human-like capabilities through the use of machines or computer systems.

What is human?

The term "human" refers to a member of the species Homo sapiens, which is the scientific name for modern humans. Humans are unique among living organisms due to their advanced cognitive abilities, complex social structures, and cultural development.

What sets humans apart is their intellectual capacity and the ability to engage in abstract thinking, language, reasoning, problem-solving, and creative expression. Humans possess a unique level of consciousness and self-awareness, enabling them to reflect on their own existence, contemplate the nature of the universe, and ponder philosophical questions.

Humans are also highly social beings, forming complex social structures and cultural systems. They create and adhere to various belief systems, values, traditions, and norms that shape their behavior and interactions.” Humans have a remarkable capacity for cooperation, empathy, and emotional expression, which contributes to their ability to form meaningful relationships and engage in social cooperation”.

What is intelligence?

Intelligence is a complex and multifaceted trait that encompasses various cognitive abilities and skills. While there is no universally agreed-upon definition of intelligence, it generally refers to the capacity of an individual to learn, reason, solve problems, understand complex ideas, adapt to new situations, and apply knowledge to achieve goals.

Intelligence involves several key components, including:

A) Reasoning and logical thinking: Intelligence often entails the ability to think critically, analyze information, and make deductions based on available evidence.

B) Memory and learning: The capacity to acquire, store, and retrieve information plays a crucial role in intelligence. Memory allows individuals to learn from past experiences and apply that knowledge in future situations.

C) Problem-solving: Intelligence involves the ability to identify problems, evaluate possible solutions, and select the most effective course of action.

D) Abstract thinking: Intelligence encompasses the capability to think conceptually, understand abstract ideas, and grasp complex relationships between different concepts.

E) Creativity: Intelligence can manifest in the ability to generate novel ideas, think outside the box, and approach challenges from unconventional perspectives.

“It's important to note that intelligence is not solely determined by a person's IQ (intelligence quotient) score, which measures a specific type of intellectual ability. Intelligence is a multidimensional construct that encompasses various cognitive and non-cognitive skills, such as emotional intelligence, social skills, and practical intelligence.”

What is Artificial intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of computer science that focuses on creating intelligent machines capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks can include problem-solving, decision-making, speech recognition, language translation, and visual perception, among others. AI systems are designed to learn from data, adapt to new inputs, and make autonomous decisions or predictions.

What are the differences between Artificial intelligence and Human intelligence?

Artificial intelligence (AI) and human intelligence are distinct in several ways. Here are some key differences between the two:

1) Origin: Human intelligence arises from the biological complexity of the human brain, while artificial intelligence is created by designing and programming machines or computer systems.

2) Learning and Adaptability: Human intelligence has the capacity to learn from experiences, acquire knowledge, and adapt to new situations. Humans can generalize from past experiences and apply that knowledge to novel scenarios. AI, on the other hand, learns through algorithms and data processing. It can analyze vast amounts of data quickly and identify patterns, but its learning is typically specific to the data it has been trained on.

3) Consciousness and Self-Awareness: Human intelligence is characterized by consciousness and self-awareness. Humans possess subjective experiences, emotions, and a sense of self. AI lacks consciousness and self-awareness. While AI can simulate human-like behavior and perform complex tasks, it does not possess subjective experiences or a sense of self.

4) Creativity and Imagination: Human intelligence is associated with creativity, imagination, and the ability to think abstractly. Humans can generate original ideas, engage in artistic expression, and envision possibilities beyond current realities. AI, although capable of generating outputs based on patterns and existing data, does not possess true creativity or imagination.

5) Physical embodiment: Human intelligence is inherently connected to a physical body, which provides sensory input and motor capabilities. Humans perceive the world through senses such as sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell, and they interact with the environment through physical actions. AI, on the other hand, is typically disembodied and exists as software or hardware systems that operate independently of physical form.

6) Emotional Intelligence: Humans have emotional intelligence, which involves recognizing, understanding, and managing emotions in oneself and others. Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in social interactions, empathy, and decision-making. AI lacks emotions and does not possess emotional intelligence, although it can be programmed to recognize and respond to certain emotional cues.

It's important to note that AI is rapidly advancing, and while it can simulate some aspects of human intelligence, it currently falls short in many areas that define human intelligence.

In simple terms, humans have emotions but computers don’t have emotions. Therefore, decision making power must be vested in humans always. And thus,?Artificial intelligence have to be regulated by the ‘responsible government’ which is answerable to the people.?

Now, we look into Russia- Ukraine conflict and actions of USA and NATO.

USA: It has a federal ‘responsible government’ answerable to the Congress and to “we the people “ which is the ‘ultimate sovereign ‘. During election year, significant power comes back to the citizens. Therefore, You are seeing special moves and actions by the current federal government, which may not be as per expectations by its allies. ‘We the people’ do not support further escalations in Russia-Ukraine ongoing war ,resulting into direct confrontation with Russia. Current dispensation has released statements echoing similar sentiments but they will try to support Ukraine by sending weapons intermittently and push NATO allies to do the same through this year. In principle, nuclear doctrine/policy also includes mandatory steps to scale down risks by directly engaging with other nuclear state/s during war or conflict. Therefore, US might have send its representatives to China recently to bring some sort of understanding or agreement to scale down nuclear risk or?completely remove nuclear question. You may see similar closed door meetings with Russian representatives in near future regarding reduction of nuclear risk.

NATO: NATO also has its nuclear policy. Its members are also ‘responsible governments’ answerable to the people. NATO continuous support to Ukraine has been increasing various risks including nuclear because this is pushing Russia slowly towards saturation beyond which not even third party could intervene. The gap between conventional and nuclear has been reducing slowly by their actions. Therefore, talks with Russia to reduce nuclear risk are imperative as per their policy.?

[NATO continues to affirm the importance of nuclear deterrence in light of evolving challenges.?Allies have reiterated this principle at successive summit meetings since 2014 (the 2014 Wales Summit, the 2016 Warsaw Summit, and the 2018 and 2021 Brussels Summits), including the Madrid Summit in 2022, where Heads of State and Government agreed the Strategic Concept, which states that: “NATO will take all necessary steps to ensure the credibility, effectiveness, safety and security of the nuclear deterrent mission. The Alliance is committed to ensuring greater integration and coherence of capabilities and activities across all domains and the spectrum of conflict, while reaffirming the unique and distinct role of nuclear deterrence. NATO will continue to maintain credible deterrence, strengthen its strategic communications, enhance the effectiveness of its exercises and reduce strategic risks.”]

Russia: In principle, Russia’s nuclear policy must also contain mandatory steps regarding reductions of strategic/nuclear risk.

Ukraine: It is also a ‘responsible government ‘ answerable to people. Therefore, they also have steps in reduction of strategic risk in its national security policy. They must take initiative bilaterally for reduction of nuclear risk sooner than later.?

In my observation,?Russia-Ukraine conflict has become a war of attrition with only adding pain and misery to the citizens of both sides each passing day, specially to the families of the soldiers.?

Human intelligence have emotions, which is not the case in Artificial intelligence. Human intelligence knows the value of life and livelihood.
