A.I.D.A. The Universal Marketing & Sales Funnel
A.I.D.A. which stands for Attention, Interest, Desire & Action has been in existence for a very long time even before the internet came into existence.
The good thing about marketing is that it is based on human mind and doesn't change with technology.
The technology that drives marketing, advertising, communication may change but the human mind hasn't changed in hundreds of years.
AIDA can be successfully applied to digital marketing including content marketing, video marketing, inside sales, inbound marketing and so on.
AIDA can be divided into A and IDA.
- A - Attracting Attention
- IDA - Interest, Desire and Action
A. Attracting Attention
- Identify your target market, know what your target market wants to learn or read about.
- Attract their attention through advertising and/or create content and publish them in different formats. Promote your content to reach your prospects.
I.D.A. (Interest, Desire and Action)
- Convert your first time visitors into leads (generate interest)
- Generating Leads by offering free trial, through contact forms, offering free downloads of brochures and/or other marketing collaterals.
- Score your leads based on demographics & behaviour.
- Nurture your Leads (intensify desire)
- Convert cold leads into warm leads through drip email marketing where you provide more information about your product and also intensify their need for your product.
- You can also nurture through inside sales, physical marketing collaterals such as brochures, videos etc.
- Convert Leads into Customers (triggering action)
- Convert leads into paying customers through inside sales, sales pages with good copywiriting and easy payment solutions.
I hope this post gave you a glimpse of the A.I.D.A. funnel. But a glimpse is all you need. This is all there is to it no matter what you are selling.
You can fit the entire marketing and sales process into this framework. It works for B2C & B2B across all verticals and horizontals. (FMCG goods are an exception and doesn't fit the framework as I have described it).
Would love to hear your thoughts about AIDA funnel. Do you also think AIDA is a one-size-fits-all framework for marketing and sales?

10 年It's the basic framework for copywriting, but it's not one size fits all by a long shot. B2B and B2C use different methods, because they are a different audience and how they make their buying decisions are different. As well as the difference audiences within the those markets. AIDA is a very take on the marketing processes. There is a hell of a lot more that goes into marketing. Primarily around the buyer psychology of each vertical.
