Peter Lagomarsino, Architect and Cisco Meneses, Co-Founder, National Fire Escape Association will share how for over 100 years the building codes have not required a certifiable means to validate maintenance on fire escape.?They will also describe the current urgency for regularly enforcement of exterior steel or wooden stairs, as well as fire escapes and egress balconies’ maintenance.?Unless the International Building Code (IBC) is blended with the International Fire Code (IFC) and National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) it becomes difficult to facilitate the verification of maintenance actions by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).?This course will show the path to acceptance for keeping, refurbishing, certifying and/or load testing, and maintaining these building components as an acceptable preexisting lawful non-compliant second means of egress.?
