The first AI Act rules have taken effect in the EU
As of February 2, the first AI Act rules, including AI system definitions and limited prohibited use cases, have taken effect in the EU. The European Commission has issued guidelines on defining AI systems to help providers determine if their software falls under the AI Act's regulations. These non-binding guidelines will evolve based on practical experiences and emerging use cases. The AI Act classifies AI systems by risk level, balancing innovation with safety and fundamental rights.
AI-Powered Data Solutions for Healthcare?
Enlitic is a company that leverages deep learning to rapidly analyze radiological images and harvest the data. This not only enables faster and more accurate diagnoses, improving patient outcomes and enabling more efficient radiological workflows but also improves the quality of radiological data by standardizing it.
AI for individualized treatment of persistent atrial fibrillation
This randomized, double-blind trial compared AI-guided tailored ablation with conventional pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). The tailored approach, which targeted spatio-temporal electrogram dispersion, led to a higher AF-free rate at one year (88% vs. 70%) but did not reduce overall atrial arrhythmias. Safety outcomes were similar, though procedure times were longer in the tailored arm. These findings suggest that AI-guided ablation improves AF elimination but may require additional treatment for long-term rhythm stability.
