AI Writing Experience as a Content Editor: Is it boon or bane?

AI Writing Experience as a Content Editor: Is it boon or bane?

I belong to a generation (to note,?I'm?a millennial) where we started writing on paper and went through the transformational era of writing on computers, then on the internet, and now along with AI (Artificial Intelligence). And we might end up not writing at all in the future. LOL?

AI has been a part of life everywhere. For the past year, after the official launch of ChatGPT, I have been very conscious of what I write because I compete with machine language and bot writers.?

Bill Gates wrote,?"Content is the king"?in 1996,?and?ironically, now content?rules the world.?If you take business, politics, technology, or entertainment, content has already marked its territory. Content is not just write-ups. It has?become a vast multimedia resources, from images and?videos to podcasts.

As a writer since my school days, I connect with people through writing. And when I decided to choose my career around the same, I was not sceptical. I always believed,?

WE WRITE FOR HUMAN BEINGS !

It's?the first point I would like to put out against AI or platforms like ChatGPT.

Writing is connecting, communicating, and collaborating!

As we all know, humans started communicating through actions, sounds, and?eventually?words. We developed languages to connect, exchange ideas, share stories, express feelings?and more!

Later on, cultures engraved new languages for distinct places and people. Still, the purpose always remains the same.?

Writing is political

Yes, I still remember learning about the great poems and quotes in the world because they?were written?to inspire.?It's?always political. Quoting James?Baldwin's?famous saying,

“Writing is a political instrument."

We fought against race, colonization, poverty, war, and oppression through writing. The eloquence of sentences, rhetorical expressions, metaphors, and the voice for changes was through words. Do you think machine language can replace it? Never.?

AI content in the world

AI content creation is time-saving for companies.?While AI presents unprecedented opportunities, we must focus on ensuring?the?quality, credibility, and diversity?of AI-generated content.

What does??AI?do in content creation? It analyzes the existing data, content and information available in different sites and sources to mimic human tone, trying to forge human creativity and expressions.?

AI can not?fully?change, at least now, the way human beings develop and generate content. Recently,?I?read a news about how YouTube has taken a step to identify AI-generated content on the platform and inform the audience about it.?

YouTube now requires creators to disclose when their videos contain AI-generated or altered content that could be mistaken for real. Disclosure labels will appear in the video description or on the player, but exceptions apply for unrealistic or minor changes. The move aims to increase transparency, build trust, and help viewers understand the growing role of AI in content creation.

I believe that AI can write thousand-word content in minutes.?It's?always QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.?

If ChatGPT?"unlock the potential of technology and embraces transformation in the landscape of content creation, distribution, and consumption, offering exciting possibilities",?you know the difference!!?

Why you?shouldn't fully?rely on AI writing?

Errors

With limitations of the existing technology,?the content it produces?can be wrong, especially?when it comes to?the facts or information.?So,?it's?always advisable to recheck or reconfirm the content. You might have noticed this on the ChatGPT platform,

'ChatGPT can make mistakes. Consider checking important information.'

Yeah,?that's?right! Proofread?.....

Plagiarism

Professionals?experienced in the content creation know the importance of copyrights and plagiarism. It can lead them or their businesses into legal cases and?affect your reputation.?

AI content may contain repetitive information or plagiarized ideas from various other websites because AI algorithms perpetuate everything available to them.?

Creativity

AI can produce junk words on any topic?you want, but human creativity and thinking create original ideas - the authenticity that connects to people.?

How?to?use AI tools for writing?

Considering the risks and consequences of AI writing, we have always embraced technology at all times.?

So, how can you do it as a writer? Here are a few tips:

Review the Quality

Firstly, never copy and paste the AI content anywhere without proofreading. Check the content that you generate with the help of AI tools. It might be wrong, plagiarized, or even unstructured! You may get 1000-word content in minutes through these apps, but you may have to review it to find?relevant?content.?

Publishing misinformation can affect your branding, business, and overall reputation. So, it's crucial to ensure that the information you share is accurate and truthful to maintain trust with your audience.

Prompts are the?catalysts

You might know that the prompts act as a catalyst to generate the content that you require. So, the input should?be refined?and detailed enough to get concise output content.?

AI works according to the commands we provide. So, it is?essential?to adjust your prompts by adding up details and features such as,?

  1. The tone of the content
  2. Persona
  3. Target audience
  4. Demographics
  5. Branding style?
  6. Any facts or info

Use Human Creativity

As I have mentioned earlier, if human beings are your audience, your content has to?convey and connect with them.?Incorporate emotions to?ensure?the content is engaging and?communicates with the audience.?

Additionally, proofread, edit and rewrite to create uniqueness and authenticity in the AI-generated content.?

Measure the user engagement of your content in every platform that will help you develop a content strategy.?

Conclusion

Quoting from the book I recently read,?

“To be true to an idea, you?have to?value expression over perfection, vitality over finish, movement over the static, and form over function. Put your personality before practicality and your individuality into everything. Ironing out impracticalities irons out what is unique.”?

―?Rod Judkins, The Art of Creative Thinking

If?you are?writing for your business or personal purposes, always?gain an understanding of?how it functions,?your message, your purpose, and how you want to connect with people.?

Technology has always been there, but creativity elevates the creation.
