Will AI Write Your School Essay? We asked GPT-3 to Write an Essay on the Future of Work

Aleksandra Przegalinska and Tamilla Triantoro started a blog “AI One on One” to discuss the advantages and limitations of current AI systems and explore the possibilities of using AI for good.

AI One on One Episode 2. Will AI Write Your School Essay? We asked GPT-3 to Write an Essay on the Future of Work.

AI applications can assist in generating text, inventing creative titles, and writing articles and essays. We wanted to test the writing abilities of GPT-3 , a language model that generates human-like responses to questions. As there are concerns that some of the current jobs will be taken by AI in the nearest future, we asked GPT-3 to write a short 500 characters essay on the topic.

Human: Write an essay on whether AI will take our jobs away.

GPT-3: The debate over whether artificial intelligence will eventually take our jobs away has been ongoing for some time now. There are arguments on both sides, but I believe that AI will not take our jobs away. Here are three reasons why.?

First, the jobs that AI will be able to do are going to be limited to certain tasks. For example, AI can already do things like drive a car or fly a plane. However, these are highly specific tasks that require a lot of training and experience. There are many jobs that AI will not be able to do, such as jobs that require human interaction or jobs that require creativity.?

Second, even if AI can do some of the same tasks as humans, it will never be able to do them as well as humans. Humans have a unique ability to think creatively and to come up with solutions to problems that AI will never be able to match.?

Third, even if AI does eventually take over some jobs, it will create new jobs in the process. For example, if AI takes over the job of driving a car, that will create new jobs for people who design and maintain the AI software. Similarly, if AI takes over the job of flying a plane, that will create new jobs for people who design and maintain the AI software. So, while AI may take some jobs away, it will also create new jobs in the process.?

In conclusion, I believe that AI will not take our jobs away. It will only take over certain tasks, it will never be able to do those tasks as well as humans, and it will create new jobs in the process.

Our evaluation of the essay: The essay includes a set of coherent ideas and forms an argument. The ideas are presented in a linear fashion. Each section offers an example of reasoning why AI will not take our jobs away. The essay concludes with a statement summarizing three reasons mentioned in the essay. In addition, the essay is within our proposed length of 500 characters.?

Now we know that AI can write essays. Let’s ask a question that requires a shorter answer. To continue the theme, we will ask if there are any occupations that will not be negatively affected by AI.

Human: Which jobs will not be destroyed by AI?

GPT-3: There is no definitive answer to this question as the impact of AI on the workforce is still largely unknown. However, jobs that are less likely to be destroyed by AI include those that require human interaction and empathy, such as healthcare and social work, and jobs that require creative thinking, such as engineering and design.

Every essay requires a title. Now we will ask GPT-3 to create a title for the essay. We will use different prompts to see which prompt triggers the best answer. We will use three keywords in the prompt - artificial intelligence, jobs, and future of work.

Human: Create an article title for artificial intelligence, jobs, future of work?

GPT-3: The Future of Work: How Artificial Intelligence Will Transform Jobs

It is definitely a good title, but it does not stand out. Let’s rephrase the prompt and ask for a fun title.

Human: Create a fun article title for artificial intelligence, jobs, future of work?

GPT-3: The Fearless Future of Work: How Artificial Intelligence Will Create Jobs, Not Destroy Them

It is a better title, but not catchy enough. Let’s change the prompt and replace “fun” with “catchy”

Human: Create a catchy article title for artificial intelligence, jobs, future of work?

GPT-3: The Job-Stealing Robots Are Coming for Your Office

It seems we are on the right track, and AI is getting more creative with each change in the prompt. Now, how about a “hilarious” title??

Human: Create a hilarious article title for artificial intelligence, jobs, future of work?

GPT-3: Robots to Take Over All Jobs by 2030, Leaving Humans to Starve in the Streets

It is up to you to decide which title is the most suitable for the essay. What we learned from this small project is that GPT-3 works well in developing logical statements, maintaining good flow, and providing suggestions and recommendations. It can provide a variety of text generation depending on the human prompts. The more detailed prompts produce the more detailed responses. While we do not recommend relying entirely on AI when writing your essays, having AI as a co-author may lead to successful collaborations, such as getting a catchy title for your work. By the way, if you liked any of the AI suggestions, leave us a comment.

There are plenty of conservative industries with many people scared that AI will take over their jobs. I see it every day doing my job. The main reason is the lack of technology awareness. Fear doubleth all. Let's use GPT-3 to educate them, telling them next that it was the AI model. What might be the outcome? ?????

Thanks a lot. That's great simplest idea of promoting AI in use. I'm sure, that GPT3 can afford more complex tasks. And, the process of automatisation of writing includes an automatisation of publishing, also. What a future!:)

Interesting experiment. What I have observed is that AI actually uses expressions that we are eager to get abt ourselves - e.g. that humans are creative. So, AI nicy adapts the content to the addressee. That was also smoothy presented during the essey title experiment. Looking forward to read more on the blog!
