AI in the Workplace: Transformative Force or 2024's Overhyped Buzzword?

Unless you have been hiding in 2024, it’s fair to say you will have heard a lot about AI and its impact on the world of work. There are a myriad of questions, uncertainties and general concerns about how AI will change organizations and particularly in our industry of HR.

I just listened to “AI in Focus” a series from the AI &Analytics at Wharton Business School I highly recommend the episode on AI in Human Resources. This episode demystifies the impact of AI on HR and highlights where AI can be used to positively impact organizations. Here are my key insights:

  • Be proactive and embrace the technology. Find ways to experiment with AI to see how it can support your role.
  • Ask yourself: Can AI make my role more efficient and enable me to spend more time focusing on more impactful work?
  • Champion the use of AI. Identify where it can save time and help improve employee experiences.
  • Recognize that AI will change how we do our roles, but it won’t change what we do.

Let’s be advocates of change and ensure that HR leads the way in embracing new technologies!

Thanks for sharing Ruth. It's one of those things I think where it takes longer than expected for the impact to actually come, but once it does come, it will be stronger and more transformative than we can imagine today.
