As Employers Embrace AI, Workers Fret—and Seek Input

Kevin J. Delaney reports: "Polls indicate a majority of Americans are anxious that AI will reduce the quality and quantity of jobs. In surveys, workers say that they want their organizations to communicate with them about how AI is being used and will impact their roles; to be trained on the new tools; and to be involved in figuring out how to use AI in their companies."

"Businesses are still figuring out what the key AI skills are. Some say that having them will be as essential as basic online literacy was when the internet entered workplaces. Others say the ability to learn new things will be the most important skill.

They’re also having to think about how younger workers get critical work experience when entry-level tasks can be done by AI. Without those jobs, how does one learn the judgment, values, and culture of a business that are essential as they climb the ladder?"

There's also the fact that many consumers don't like it.

“We defaulted customers into a [generative] AI chatbot experience and they hated it,” said Josh Silverman, the chief executive of Etsy, on a recent podcast. “It was one of the worst-performing experiments we’ve launched during my entire tenure.”

Why People Really Quit Their Jobs—and How Employers Can Stop It

"High employee turnover remains a key problem facing many organizations across a broad range of industries," write Polly Kang, David P. Daniels, and Maurice Schweitzer.

In their research, they found that "quitting was mostly driven not by hard tasks, but by streaks of hard tasks. This means that managers can reduce turnover by a substantial amount by simply re-ordering their workers’ tasks, so as to break up hard streaks. We call this strategy 'task sequencing.'"

S.F. Federal Reserve Bank President Mary Daly Believes AI Can Boost the Labor Market

Nik Popli reports: "In an exclusive interview with TIME, San Francisco Federal Reserve president and chief executive Mary Daly said that the explosion of artificial intelligence (AI) could improve the labor market in the long-term and make workers more productive, even as workers fear the rising technology will change or eliminate their jobs."

“If we can get people to upskill or reskill to take the jobs that are being created, we'll have a very successful and growing economy. But that's the burden on us—to make sure that everyone can participate in this changing technological development," says Daly.

For entry level employees, teach them good business behaviours and ethics, manual business processes, good service demeanor, and foundation financial practices. In this way they'll be in a position to discern what good (BP) automation and AI utilisation looks like over mandraulic steps.

The employee turnover rate is?a way to measure how often employees leave a company and are replaced by new ones. It is calculated by dividing the number of employees who leave during a specific period by the average number of employees in the company during that same time.
