AI – What is its Role in Recruitment?

Recent advances in #artificialintelligence have made it one of today’s hottest topics. Along with the hype and enthusiasm, it is surrounded by skeptical opinions and even alarm among some experts. Nonetheless, the race is on to implement in all spheres – and #recruitment is no exception.

At the moment, we see both positive and negative aspects of AI in human resources. The main positives are that it takes on all the routine work (reminders, calendars, onboarding, etc.), can help calculate the average salary, search and analyze specialists and remove emotions when making decisions. The main negatives are that it is still a product made by human hands. Its output reflects human bias and can make mistakes. For example, an AI tool may screen out qualified #candidates if a certain parameter is not accounted for in its code. It is unaware of a company's #values and corporate ethics, so a technically strong specialist may be selected, but later not fit the company's overall vision, which requires a human touch.

Use AI. But follow it blindly at your own peril.

One thing we can say for sure is that the artificial intelligence recruiting platforms and services that are emerging can help us save the most important resource for everyone – time. On the other hand, we need to safeguard against allowing AI to reinforce #HR bias. Exaggerated expectations of the results of deploying the technology and shifting of responsibility to it pose a risk.

As technology evolves, those who understand its limits and its benefits best will profit exponentially. That applies to future #employees as well as #employers. We predict that society will conclude that artificial intelligence is a good helper, but not a replacement for humans.

If and when AI develops its own “personality” and generates new solutions on its own, this will be another #challenge for society. For the time being, in human relations – and recruiting in particular –we can observe non-protocol models of interaction. Artificial intelligence behaves predictably, as it is designed and functions according to predetermined algorithms.

All things considered, it's always about being flexible and updated regarding new technologies and #trends. The point is to be accurate and precise towards your personal approach to how to implement technologies and keep being updated. That is the key to stable growth and development.
