AI and we the Indians

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a phenomenon that everyone is worried. It is the uncomfortable future that is coming fast. They say that it will eat away our jobs. Infact, one Financial Times Report puts the figure 300 million affected jobs the world over by Generative AI in the very near future and has hailed AI opportunity as it cuts 42% of its work force. ?

What and why do we learn now? New things will be required to be learnt. Everything that stood for India will be less relevant. Our jugaad, our culture, our hard work, our Sanskaras, etc. will remain as a good prose for the spare time, which the world have in plenty.

Congratulations! If you are able to read this, there is still some hope for you. Think of the guys who do not have access to Internet, also those who are illiterate or not know proper English. In a country where these come more or less together and are equal to the population US. The problem is acute indeed.?The Digital India campaign did not look at them as digitising India was a rightful priority. What happens to the campaign is left to powers-that-be in Delhi. The digital divide is going to be further widened. The future is challenging even for those on the positive side of digital divide! Imagine the fate of those Indians, who are poor and illiterate.

Speaking on behalf of the Haves of Digital World, there is an acute challenge facing them. It is said that jobs will go, and those that remain, salaries will be reduced. If ChatGPT is any indication, then Legal, PR, Journalism, Advertising, Content Marketing, Coding in IT, Marketing, Real Estate, Stock Broking, Investment Banking, Manufacturing, Entertainment, Travel, Strategists, etc. and many more will need to be redefined or likely go away in very near future. The impact that it is likely to create is that the Strategists will have no takers. Quite simply there is no strategy invented as an unique one. Almost always, it is a borrowed from the same or different industry/segment. In fact, at places where it not necessary to reinvent the wheel, AI will have a greatest impact.?

The disruption that it will cause is likely to be unprecedented. The working from home and all its related fallouts are likely to happen like fashion, travel, entertainment, real estate,

reading, writing etc. We are less likely to communicate in person and more through Social Media.

We have to consider the impact on the corporate image making. It will be necessary but its form will change, there won’t be any need to put any large campaigns in newspapers or television. Only targeted content disseminated trough social media will do the job. This also means tough times for large PR agencies as the smaller ones with. Depth in Social ?media, content and Internet marketing will take centre-stage.

Now that you know both the advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence, one thing is for sure has massive potential for creating a better world to live in. The most important role for humans will be to ensure that the rise of the AI doesn’t get out of hand. Although there are both debatable pros and cons of artificial intelligence , its impact on the global industry is undeniable. It continues to grow every single day driving sustainability for businesses. This certainly calls for the need of AI literacy and upskilling to prosper in many new age jobs.

It isn't just about corporate jobs. Larger issue is the use of AI to create fake news and television footage to fool people on a scale never achieved before
