Situational leadership offers a more flexible solution which leaders can use, and the concept is relatively straightforward.
It is the ability to adapt your leadership style to the needs and abilities of your team members in different situations. It is a valuable skill that can help you achieve your business goals, motivate your employees, and foster a positive work environment. You ensure to create a culture of ongoing learning and constructive feedback, as a leader. For example, just when people are normalising their use of technology, come artificial intelligence and machine learning. As a leader, you may need to provide direction in the case of your team being limited in terms of willingness or ability to adopt AI.
Based on my observations of the topic, there are many factors to consider when you’re working with artificial intelligence (AI). That includes the nature of your information needs, team, project and what you're trying to accomplish. Instead of sticking with what you know, you adapt your leadership style to different circumstances. By cultivating your emotional intelligence, you can become a more effective and versatile situational leader.
Artificial intelligence is not new as has been around for some time. Many organizations were at an impasse due to little understanding of it, but this has now changed, affecting day-to-day work as we are now at a point where we need to at least understand what Artificial intelligence is to not feel threatened about it. Or maybe you just want to learn how to become more influential and effective with the help of AI. Consider the nature of your work. Is it mostly simple and routine or does it involve more complex reasoning and variety?
I was just reading about how, in the health sector, AI is making a breakthrough by developing new concoctions for some medications based on existing formulas and a lot of data. This is fascinating and proves the point that Artificial Intelligence provides a great source of ideas which can further be developed by the user. AI provides a very good starting point. Sometimes, in my opinion, AI can make us humans appear subpar. It is almost supernatural in comparison to how we exploit information. Maybe we need the Guinness Book of Records to confirm this just in case such a superhuman exists. It can indeed make one think humans are losing control simply because of the speed at which they spew out information.
One of the ways to develop your situational leadership skills is to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can help you analyze, monitor, and improve your team's performance. AI can provide you with data-driven insights, feedback, and recommendations that can help you make better decisions, tailor your communication, and provide effective coaching.
?Strategies for various situations to benefit the business.
We share some strategies for how AI can help you enhance your situational leadership skills and how it can benefit your business.
Using AI to identify the skill level and readiness of your team members.
One of the key aspects of situational leadership is to assess the skill level and readiness of your team members for each task or project. This can help you determine the appropriate amount of direction and support that they need from you.
AI can help you with this by providing you with data on your team's performance, such as their strengths, weaknesses, progress, challenges, and feedback. You can use this data to identify the areas where your team members need more guidance, training, or encouragement, and the areas where they can work more independently or take on more responsibility. For example, you can use AI to track the completion rate, quality, and timeliness of your team's tasks. You can also use AI to measure their engagement, satisfaction, and motivation levels. Based on this data, you can adjust your leadership style accordingly. You can provide more direction and supervision to those who are struggling or new to the task, and more delegation and recognition to those who are competent and confident.
Using AI to personalize your communication and feedback.

Another important aspect of situational leadership is to communicate effectively with your team members according to their preferences, needs, and personalities. This can help you build trust, rapport, and understanding with them.
AI can help you with this by providing you with insights into your team's communication styles, preferences, and behaviours. You can use this information to tailor your communication and feedback to each team member. You can also use AI to automate some of the communication tasks that are repetitive or time-consuming, such as sending reminders, updates, or acknowledgements.
For example, you can use AI to analyze the tone, sentiment, and emotion of your team's messages and emails. You can also use AI to generate personalized responses that match their tone and mood. Based on this analysis, you can adjust your communication style accordingly. You can use more formal or informal language, more positive or constructive feedback, and more emotional or rational appeal, depending on what works best for each team member.
Using AI to provide effective coaching and development.
A third aspect of situational leadership is to provide coaching and development opportunities for your team members according to their goals, interests, and potential. This can help you enhance your skills, knowledge, and confidence.
AI can help you with this by providing you with recommendations on how to coach and develop your team members based on their performance data, feedback, and learning preferences that you may have for example in tools such as ENDEMIC-HR. ?You can also use AI to create personalized learning paths and resources for each team member. You can also use AI to monitor their progress and provide them with timely and relevant feedback. For example, you can use AI to identify the skill gaps and learning needs of your team members. You can also use AI to suggest courses, books, podcasts, videos, or mentors that can help them improve their skills. Based on this information, you can provide them with coaching sessions that are tailored to their goals and interests. You can also use AI to track their learning outcomes and provide them with recognition and rewards.
Lastly, don’t let AI compromise your integrity or reputation because you are the one in control. Instead, use it to enhance your trustworthiness and credibility. AI is not biased. The people building artificial intelligence algorithms may be because of the data inputs. They choose the data, and therefore the problem is not AI, but the data.?Hence, Humans are in the data inputs, therefore responsible.
By being ethical and responsible, you can uphold your values and principles, protect your stakeholders' interests and rights, and contribute positively to society. By doing so, you can not only improve your own leadership effectiveness but also help your business advance by increasing productivity and morale.
