AI Trends To Watch Out For

AI Trends To Watch Out For

Here are five futuristic trends to keep a robotic eye on.

1.????Travel agents are being replaced

Due to the advent of AI,?travellers no longer need to visit travel agencies to book flights or search for accommodation. AI assistants and intelligent chatbots – notably ChatGPT have now taken the place of travel agents allowing customers to book flights and accommodations and hire vehicles online. ?

And as a sci-fi side note, a report published by Vero Solutions predicts that robots will replace humans in the check-in process by 2030.

2.????And yet… the future of hospitality might be more analogue than digital

The thing I enjoy about trends are the ones you don’t see coming. For all the talk of technology changing every sector beyond recognition, it seems the average person is not so keen on eliminating the human/physical touch completely – especially in hospitality.

Bestselling author David Sax wrote The Future is Analog after noting that although the pandemic forced us to immerse ourselves in digital and showed us the benefits, it also showed us the limits. He found that people really didn’t want hotels to lose the personal touch they enjoy. ?

He writes: “What we want from hospitality is a feeling of being welcomed by someone who knows our needs as humans. That isn’t going to change. Technology doesn’t take that desire away. In fact, it elevates it.” I am certainly behind this thought.?

3. Writing in education on a new frontier

Back to ChatGPT, and at the recent edition of Davos (the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting) the CEO of Coursera said the controversial chatbot heralds the next step in interactive teaching, stating that learning “will never be the same again.” He was alluding to the fact that ChatGPT can process large amounts of text and shares that information “in a conversational way.

According to creators OpenAI, the dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT “to answer follow-up questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises and reject inappropriate requests.”

The reality is that any part of education where assessment is based on writing a response is now radically changed. What does this mean? We shall see.

4. Driverless transport as a norm

How we get around is also being impacted by AI, with the technology making deep inroads in the transportation sector. Auto manufacturers and tech giants?like Tesla, Google, General Motors have already developed reliable autonomous vehicles that enable a safe driverless driving experience. Expect this space to accelerate fast.

5. High tech robotics across all sectors

AI-based robots are already widely employed in health, manufacturing, and engineering. However, the trend now is developing more advanced models to be used for space exploration, deep earth research, and disease control.

These robots would need a greater level of intelligence, but with AI progressing at a constant pace it is achievable in coming decades say experts.
