AI Tools Update: What YouTube, Meta, and Snap Have in Store for Creators
It feels like every day there’s a new AI announcement from the big platforms, and it’s tough to keep up. YouTube is enhancing creator tools with the new Creator Music updates, Meta’s diving deeper into the metaverse with fresh AI features, and Snap is pushing creative boundaries with advanced lens tech.?
If you’re a creator looking for tools to boost your content game, here’s a quick look at what each platform has in store. Let’s break down what’s happening and how it can help you level up.
At YouTube’s latest event, they spotlighted “Creator Music,†which makes it easier for content creators to license music for their videos.
- YouTube's new feature, Dream Screen, will allow creators to generate exciting backgrounds for their Shorts starting early next year, with 6-second standalone video clips available by 2025. Using Imagen 3, Dream Screen begins with a text prompt and generates four unique images. Creators can then select their favorite, and Veo transforms it into a high-quality background video. Although there is no beta version available yet, these advancements will soon unlock new creative possibilities for users. To maintain transparency, all AI-generated content will be watermarked using SynthID and labeled on YouTube.
At Meta's Connect event, they introduced some genuinely useful AI tools that could shake up how we interact online. You can now chat with Meta AI using your voice across Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram, and it’ll even talk back to you in celeb voices like Dam Judi Dench and John Cena— perfect for quick answers or content ideas. They’ve also rolled out photo editing with AI, so you can ask it to change your outfit or swap the background with a rainbow. Plus, they're testing a translation feature for Reels that automatically dubs videos in different languages.
These updates will start rolling out soon, and they’ve even expanded their AI tools for businesses to make customer service smoother. It feels like these tools are designed to be both practical and fun, with more to come.
Snap launched new AI and Augmented Reality(AR) features at their Partner Summit, enhancing Lens Studio and app functionality for both creators and users.
Creators can now use Snap Lens AI tools to easily design 3D assets and more realistic AR effects, making lens creation simpler and more fun. For users, Snap’s AI will offer smarter lens recommendations and interactive AR filters that can transform real-world objects in creative ways. These updates make it easier for creators to build and for users to enjoy more personalized, engaging AR experiences.
What Does This Mean for Creators?
Every platform seems to be dropping new AI tools, that will be available seamlessly in the platforms. The idea is to stay there as your one-stop shop vs go to other external tools.?
So, what’s the takeaway? Keep exploring and experimenting. Each platform has something unique to offer, so find what fits your style and start creating.
My Hot Take: I’m personally excited for the day when I can go on each platform and have it tell me exactly what to post based on my personality, goals, my community’s needs, and what’s trending. As a small business in media and as a creator, I’m always looking for tools that can help me work more efficiently and achieve better results—I’m all in!
On a different note, many people ask if using these tools means the platforms will learn from their content and potentially claim ownership. The short answer is yes; the platform is already learning from you as you create and upload content. That’s why it’s important to read the terms and conditions carefully to ensure you’re comfortable with the trade-offs. Proceed with caution!
For me, the biggest question remains: If we can develop all these advanced tech tools, why haven’t we figured out a better way to monetize? Maybe AI can help with that too!
