In the last few days, ChatGPT has created havoc across industries and one common concern coming up is whether will ChatGPT take away many Jobs. When it comes to my writing career; this is one area of my personal concern. What will happen to Authors like me, who are dependent on creating stories with words? Now imagine a tool like ChatGPT coming in, which can create better, engaging content in lesser time.
It's not like the Authors didn’t have similar threats earlier, in 2016 Artificial Intelligence wrote a short film “Sunspring”, however this creative content where computers spitting out incomprehensible dialogue was created was not much of a concern. Now in 2023, we got ChatGPT.
I tried to test the ChapGPT for getting content generated for an topic, a query for the “plot of an Indian warrior movie” returned an incredibly comprehensible synopsis. This means even creative writing work could be at risk.
Until I ran a second query for a “plot of warriors in India”. Which prompts ChatGPT to give you a similar synopsis with marginally different plot points.

So, conclusion is that creativity does provide some sort of safeguard for Authors who are creative and has new ideas/stories to share.
Now coming to non-creative content writing like journalism, whitepapers, etc.? Certainly, ChatGPT is going to give a tough time.
Currently, AI systems are trained in such a way that they don’t have access to the latest events, this drawback makes them irrelevant to new development across the world.
Additionally, using AI to build the context and compassion of copy written by a living person might be challenging. AI will also have main challenges in journalism and creative work where voice, nuance, emotion, and style place a critical aspect to engage with the audience.
Some of the routine writing tasks that AI can do very effectively are creating product descriptions, ad copy, video summaries, and other time-consuming and monotonous jobs.
My 2 Cents
AI may take over some responsibilities of professional writers, but it is unlikely that it will completely replace them soon. Additionally, even if AI does replace them, people's desire to write will probably keep the activity popular and in demand. So in my opinion, creativity does provide some sort of safeguard for writers, at least for now.
