AI tool vs a Human Engineer
In this article, I want to explore the significant dilemma we face when choosing between human talent and AI tools. As someone with an engineering background, I naturally think in terms of human engineers, but this question extends to any human role across various fields.
Lately, this issue has been on my mind a lot. As an entrepreneur, I’m increasingly reaping the benefits of AI tools. Tasks that once required skilled human talent can now be managed by AI, reducing the need for human resources. However, when I consider the implications for a country with a population exceeding a billion, I worry that these tools could be detrimental in the long run.
This raises a crucial question for me: Will we be able to keep humans relevant in a future dominated by AI-based tools?
When comparing human engineers to AI tools, I believe human engineers can still lead the way—if they possess strong, fundamental skills and are available at an affordable cost. However, many of the so-called "engineers" in the current market are more accurately described as programmers, coders, or code typists.
Given the choice between a programmer from the current generation and an AI tool, I would opt for the AI-based tool. This isn’t merely because AI is cost-effective but also because of the gaps in skills, knowledge, and even behavioral issues among human talent today.
While AI tools may seem threatening, I believe they will ultimately push businesses and professionals out of their comfort zones, forcing them to compete with these advanced technologies. This presents a tremendous opportunity for human engineers to transform themselves and remain relevant in the evolving landscape.
