?? AI Thoughts From My Sickbed: Exploring Desktop Automation with LLMs ??♂???

Hey everybody!

Unfortunately, I won't be sharing an AI thought from my run today. I was at a Microsoft event last week and managed to catch the infamous "conference crud." For those who attend conferences regularly, you know it's common to come back with some sort of bug every now and then. On the bright side, it's a quick way to lose a couple of extra pounds! I'll be back on my feet soon because I have two 5Ks this weekend, and I've got to be ready for both.

Today's Topic: Desktop Automation with LLMs

This post is a bit different—more of a news story than a personal one. Lately, there's been a lot of buzz around desktop automation, especially involving Large Language Models (LLMs).

Recent Developments

I've noticed that companies like Anthropic and Microsoft are discussing the ability to control your desktop and perform tasks using LLMs. This is an exciting development in the field of AI and automation.

Things to Consider

However, before we dive into this new frontier, there are a couple of important questions we need to address:

  1. Should We Automate Desktop Tasks with LLMs?
  2. Potential Benefits

Looking Ahead

While this technology is still maturing, I'm actively exploring its possibilities. There are challenges to address, especially when combining desktop automation with agentic AI, but the potential benefits are significant.

Stay Tuned

I'll try to get a run in tomorrow to prepare for the weekend races. Thanks for hanging with me during this downtime. I'll keep you posted on any new discoveries!

Jimmy. Great post! LLMs are all the rage these days. I attended the MU IDSI symposium this week, where the theme was, “Using AI for good.” One of the keynote addresses talked about ising LLMs in healthcare to help doctors notate their EMR solutions in electronic form efficiently and use NLP to cluster and mine diagnosis recommendations from the symptom notes. Major hurtles discussed included hospital administration worrying about privacy as data is uploaded to the cloud based ai solutions. Do you anticipate any way to help ease some of these concerns in the future? You can find more into about the symposium here: https://muidsi.missouri.edu/2024-muidsi-symposium/
