AI Summaries with Microsoft Copilot

AI Summaries with Microsoft Copilot

If it is version 10.0.39 or later, then you may have noticed a new feature: “AI Summaries with Copilot.” Additionally, Power Platform Integration must be enabled for your environment.

AI summaries with Microsoft Copilot are available on six pages in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (all of these features are enabled by default):

  • Released product details summary
  • Product hover summaries
  • Purchase order summary
  • Sales order summary
  • Vendor summary
  • Warehouse Management mobile app

Let’s take a brief look at the first of these – the AI summary for the Released product details page.

According to Microsoft, these summaries provide a quick overview of the most important information related to each page, personalized for the current user. For example, the information can vary based on the other pages that the user frequently interacts with and is limited based on the user's security roles and permissions.

Let’s try opening one of the products. At the top, you’ll see a new tab that will take some time to calculate when opening product details (the calculation time, which depends on the number of transactions, is something that still needs to be studied).

Once processed, Copilot will provide information on inventory, as well as summaries on the product’s purchasing and sales data:

Most often, Copilot provides information on the base purchase and sales prices for the selected product:

  • The default purchase order price for Licensed High End Speaker is $40.00 USD per unit.
  • The default sales order price for Licensed High End Speaker is $50.00 USD per unit.

It’s also possible to obtain information on the availability of Purchase and Sales trade agreements for some products. In my experience, this information is provided for products used in the Pricing Management module:

  • The default purchase order price for HDMI 6' Cables is $12.00 USD per piece. Additionally, purchase trade agreements are available for this product.
  • HDMI 6' Cables are available with sales trade agreements.

Unfortunately, AI summaries with Copilot do not yet extend to analyzing production data, so if your primary transactions for a product are with Reference = Production, you will still only see information on purchases and sales.

In conclusion, these summaries appear to be a rather useful addition, with promising applications. I hope that Microsoft will continue to add more analytical capabilities and extended information features in the future—without compromising performance, of course.
