AI is still mind-blowing DUH

Hello and welcome, new readers ??! I’m Cordula, a marketing professional with nearly a decade of experience. Currently, I’m working as a consultant and Interim Marketing Manager. This Substack newsletter is my personal collection of exceptional finds—whether they’re campaigns, tools, marketing insights, or heartfelt recommendations.

When I launched this newsletter a year ago, my debut edition focused on AI tools for marketers. Given the rapid advancements in technology, it's time to look at some AI again. The pace of innovation is so fast that it sometimes feels like I can barely keep up!

Recently, I had the chance to watch a workshop led by Chris Branch. His small team is at the cutting edge of AI campaigns, collaborating with the top 100 brands and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. I felt super motivated after the session to use Midjourney and Runway more, maybe some of the examples will also inspire you…

Some Crazy AI Things You Can't Miss

  1. Let’s talk AI VIDEO

Whether it’s AI-crafted animated characters or entirely synthetic environments, the level of realism is mind-boggling. In fact, a recent study by Gartner predicts that by 2025, 90% of all video content could be generated through AI technology. As I watched a particularly stunning example of AI animation recently, it struck me just how far we’ve come—and how close we are to AI visuals that you simply cannot tell apart from the real thing. Just to be clear; those are Midjourney images then being animated. Check out the video below by Rory Flynn. Yeah, if you look super closely, you might notice that the background people’s faces aren’t moving quite naturally. But honestly, that’s the only thing that stands out.…. yes if you look very close you can see that the faces of the background people aren’t moving naturally but that’s about it ?? ?? ??

2. Making our lives easier - MEETING NOTES

Just over a year ago, when I was at The Next Web, we used Supernormal to handle our meeting notes. Back then, it was giving us these painfully long transcripts that couldn’t really pick out the key points. Things have changed a lot since then. Now, I’m all about Fathom AI’s free meeting notetaker. Honestly, it writes better and more accurate notes than I ever could. Plus, I must appreciate their brilliant marketing: with the free version, everyone in your meetings gets those notes sent to them afterward. A little bit of growth hack appreciation right there. It’s hard to explain how well it works if you haven’t tried it, but here’s a glimpse: it nails key takeaways, action items, next steps, and to-dos perfectly:

Capturing on point ??

PS: I have used it for over 20 meetings so far and it was always mind-boggling accurate

3. And what about campaigns?

There have been a few campaigns using AI, where we would not event think that it was necessary like in the example of IKEA. Of course giant-seized textil burgers and sandwiches are possible but AI can do them quicker and additionally embed them into any given background. Some other unique examples are Nike’s ‘Feel the softness’ campaign or Caudalie’s AI video cleaning up the Seine during the Olympic Games.

Ok I am not gonna spam you with more AI news, there is plenty of it already. But if you come across something mind-blowing, definitely share it with me.

Female-founded company I love ??

My good friend Romain, who runs one of the most promising climate VC funds, keeps telling me that this company is going to have a bright future. NitroVolt, co-founded by Suzanne Zamany Andersen, is developing small, sustainable ammonia synthesis units that use air, water, and green electricity to produce ammonia right on-site. It’s pretty cool - farmers can make their own nitrogen-based fertilizers and cut down on supply chain reliance.

A heartfelt recommendation ??

Usually, I like to share a great video, series, or something seriously thought-provoking. But this time, let's keep it light. Heads up though—you’ll only get the joke if you know how wild the tech scene can be in places like San Francisco, New York, or Austin. The crew from SociallyInept are touring these cities, making a living roasting tech folks. It's packed with crypto and tech bro humor, and honestly, I think it's hilarious. The just released their first full show on YouTube.

PS: And here’s another recommendation on the AI topic for my German readers:

If you're in social media or building your brand, check out Mirco Gluch 's free AI workshop on October 1st. It's all about making your social media marketing more creative and efficient with AI! Join the over 60 people that are signed up here.

?? Fun fact: I’m the person behind the scene of this webinar, managing the planning, funnel strategy, and automations for this workshop. It’s been exciting to see it all come together!
