Figma Addresses AI Tool Controversy Over Apple Design Similarities
Figma has withdrawn its "Make Designs" AI tool after it was found to generate outputs closely resembling Apple's weather app. This raised concerns about possible unauthorized use of Apple's designs. Figma clarified that the issue stemmed from inadequately vetted components and example screens added shortly before their Config event.
The company has removed the problematic assets and paused the feature, promising a more rigorous QA process before reintroducing it. Users can opt in or out of data usage for AI training until August 15.
Leading AI Companies Form Coalition for AI Security
Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, and other major AI players have established the Coalition for Secure AI (CoSAI) to address AI security challenges. This initiative aims to create a unified approach by sharing open-source methodologies, frameworks, and tools.
CoSAI, operating under the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), will focus on developing best practices, addressing AI challenges, and securing AI applications. The coalition seeks to enable secure and responsible AI integration across organizations, mitigating risks while leveraging AI benefits.
Instagram Introduces Expiring and Semiprivate Comments
Instagram is expanding its Notes feature to include expiring comments on Reels and grid posts, announced today. These comments will disappear after three days and can be tailored to be visible only to close friends or mutual followers.
Appearing like stickers on the content, these semiprivate comments aim to enhance private interactions on the platform. Users concerned about potential misuse, such as bullying or harassment, can disable the feature on their posts. The global rollout of this feature begins today.
