2025 Economic Outlook: Firing On All Cylinders (Apollo Academy) via Two Cheers for “Cutthroat” American Capitalism (AEI)

PLY: Thank you to Jeff Kutler who brought to my attention a fascinating AEI paper about why it’s important to have some proper Schumpeterian cutthroat capitalism around the global economy.

The Apollo report quoted by AEI notes:

“There is no AI boom in Europe, Canada, Australia, or Japan. This is a very unique tailwind to the US economic outlook.”

IN BIGWORLD

From Exchange Invest 3169: January 13th:

A brief update on the Presidential inauguration of a politician deemed persona non grata by many across the world who has inspired many headlines railing against his brutal statements and apparent placing of ego before state. Riots took place with opposition arrested who will be subject to summary ‘justice.’

…And thus, last Friday, Nicolas Maduro was reinstalled as President of Venezuela despite not apparently winning anything like a free and fair election.

While beloved of the left wing dreamers cum sadly delusional the world over, will the former bus driver survive a full term or will there be a handover to the real election victor Edmundo González Urrutia who was himself the surrogate for opposition leader María Corina Machado who was both banned from contesting the election in the Chavista bastion and indeed was arrested last Thursday as she protested a sham election.

Meanwhile, it’s morning in America, Happy MLK day even if that great man’s legacy is for one year overshadowed by the inauguration…

Mudrex Bogged Down

Another day another tale of crypto woe, hopefully this will turn out okay but then again our sense of optimism about troubled crypto exchanges remains, er, highly distributed: Indian Crypto Exchange Mudrex Suddenly Blocks Withdrawals (CCN) / Indian Crypto Exchange Mudrex Explains Withdrawal Suspension (Cointelegraph).

We await news on or before January 28th, the suspension time limit and hope it is due to the stated reason of upgrading the platform compliance framework to prevent misuse.

If you enjoyed this excerpt you may be interested to know that you can read Bitcarnage every day in Exchange Invest.

Alternatively, if you want to follow Bitcarnage?—?the daily update on happenings in the world of crypto and digital assets, then you can find Bitcarnage as a standalone on Substack.
