Is AI Shaping the Future of Education?
Chika Anyanwu PhD, FGLF
Empowering the next generation through inclusive digital transformation, self agency, inspirational leadership and a sense of purpose in an ever changing world.
As Web 3 gradually takes centre stage in our digital ecosystem, Generative Artificial Intelligence becomes more ubiquitous in our everyday activity. Generative artificial intelligence is an evolving technology with many unknowns, possibilities, challenges and risks. It is a complex system that requires us to be agile, take risks, accept failures, learn from them and exploit their potential. As educators and researchers, generative artificial intelligence has taken centre stage in almost every sphere of our scholarship.
?I am therefore humbled to be a panelist at the Future of AI in Education Conference hosted by Flinders University on Saturday, 28 Oct. The forum included university researchers and academics, high school teachers and leaders, software developers, industry representatives and government officials. In the words of Bert Verhoeven, the conference Chair, “we collectively explored the synergies between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and education—a nexus with the potential to radically transform pedagogical paradigms and learning experiences”.
?I believe that, to exploit the full potential of generative AI, we need to stop looking at it as simply an ICT or technical issue requiring programmers and coders but as a socio-technological ecosystem that requires collective human agency and collaboration.
Special thank you should go to the conference Chairs, Bert Verhoeven and Dr Vishal Rana PhD for bringing such diversity of people together.
