Hey, LinkedIn fam! Summer is here, and I know you're all excited to use AI to spice up your content and have some fun. But before you do, let me share some tips on how to use AI safely and responsibly. Trust me, you don't want to end up in a sticky situation because of AI. ??
?? Safety first! Think traditional security controls and act responsibly. You need to protect yourself and your data from hackers and scammers. Use strong passwords, avoid sketchy links, and update your software regularly. You don't want to lose access to your account or have your personal info leaked, right?
?? Privacy is king. Know your organisations rules when it comes to AI, and keep it private. Trust, but verify. AI’s just a fancy search engine, not a mind reader. It doesn’t know who you are or what you want, unless you tell it. So don’t spill any tea or secrets with AI, unless you are sure it’s safe and necessary. And always check the privacy settings and policies of the AI tools you use.
?? Double-check that info! Garbage in, garbage out. Your prompts shape the AI’s answers. Be mindful of what you ask and how you ask it. AI may not always give you accurate or reliable information, especially if your query is vague, slangy, or complex. Always fact-check the info you get from AI, and don’t trust it blindly. You don't want to spread misinformation or get fooled by AI, right?
?? Think before you upload. Once it’s out there, it’s out there. Treat it like a public library book. Anything you upload or create with AI may be seen, shared, or used by others. So be careful of what you upload or create with AI, and make sure you have the rights and permissions to do so. And remember, AI is not a substitute for human creativity or originality. Use it as a tool, not a crutch.
?
So, there you have it. Some simple but important tips on how to use AI safely and responsibly over the summer. I hope you find them useful and follow them. Remember, AI is awesome, but it's not perfect. It's up to us to use it wisely and ethically.
Stay safe, stay smart, and stay creative.
Love you all! ?? NB: Thanks to Matt and Amy for the inspiration for this article ;-)
