Is AI ruining marketing and your brand?

This is bound to be a controversial question… especially since so many business owners are starting to use it because it can make creating content quicker and better.

But is it actually ruining your brand and your marketing content?

With so much content being created using AI it can be hard to see what is real and what isn’t. It is blurring the lines totally.

And despite suggestions that you use it as a starting point, many aren’t, and their content looks generic and lacks the personalisation and humanness we need to connect with others.

We can’t get away from it. It has infiltrated everything.

There is now AI as part of design programs like Canva, it is integrated into social media platforms, there are a plethora or programs that will create articles, courses and images. And don’t forget all the horrible AI voiceovers on YouTube videos. Where will it stop?

I recently saw an ad on Facebook for a Create Your Course with AI for $9. So, I wonder how many crappy templated courses that will create on the course market? As someone about to create a new course, I couldn’t think of anything worse to use. AI does not know what is in my brain. It doesn’t have my expertise knowledge and real-life experience. I don’t want my course to be a template that lacks originality and human experience.

Here are some issues to ponder and ask yourself

·????? How reliable and accurate is the data that is being used?

·????? Will it have SEO optimisation?

·????? How can I maintain the brands original voice using AI?

·????? How can our content remain human and authentic?

·????? Can there be potential legal issues?

·????? Am I opening yourself up to copyright violations?

·????? How can I overcome the impersonal interactions? eg: like LinkedIn AI responses

·????? Will it kill my creativity?

·????? Will I appear to be inauthentic?

·????? Will I create trust issues with my clients?

Now I KNOW it is a tool to be used and not a replacement for authentic real content and the argument will be that you need to personalise it, but we know that in reality that often doesn’t happen.

My opinion is that if you are going to use, then use it wisely and don’t think it will be a one stop solution. If you truly want to stand out amongst competitors, your voice needs to be authentic and human and that is something that I don’t think AI can offer.

I’m hopeful that we’ll eventually figure out how to use Generative AI the right way. At the moment, we’re like toddlers playing with a new toy ??
