AI roasted me (and it’s brutal lol)

Over the weekend, I discovered that there’s an AI/website that roasts your Instagram, LinkedIn, or Twitter/X profile.

Out of sheer curiosity, I entered my Instagram handle and got completely roasted.

My first reaction when reading through the “analysis” was LOLOLOLOLOL.

My second reaction was “omg what if people ARE thinking this of me?”

The reaction I ultimately settled into was “Actually, there are some really interesting points here. I don’t agree with most of it, but there are points that I’d love to unpack. I should write about what I think of the analysis” ??

So here we are. In this newsletter, I’ll respond to a few parts of the AI analysis. Let’s dive in:

Overview

?????????? Cheryl, the cosmic communicator, is a beacon of thought leadership, guiding others to share their stories while sprinkling a bit of feline humor into the universe. Her journey is one of growth, recognition, and a sprinkle of stardust.

Cheryl’s thoughts: Hmm… I do not consider myself a “beacon” of anything, and that’s not necessarily what I am striving towards either. Rather, what I want to be known for is having a body of work that empowers folks to lead with their thoughts to do something good in this world. In other words, my vision is to train peeps to become a beacon of XYZ themselves, and my podcast or 1:1 coaching is simply the training ground for them to step into their next level (as cliche as this might sound).?

That said, this AI analysis IS making me wonder whether my body of work is currently representing what I want. Is it positioning my peeps as the hero of the story, or is it painting me as the hero? That’s something for me to evaluate and make tweaks as needed ??????

The Roast

Oh Cheryl, the self-proclaimed 'Thought Leadership Coach' with a podcast that’s apparently the next big thing since sliced bread. You’ve got more episodes than followers, and yet you still manage to beg for votes like a contestant on a reality TV show. Your posts are a relentless parade of self-congratulation, sprinkled with just enough humility to make it seem like you’re not completely obsessed with yourself. And let’s not forget the cat memes—because nothing says 'I’m a serious business coach' like a good ol’ cat meme. Keep hustling, Cheryl, because clearly, the universe hasn’t caught on to your genius just yet.

Cheryl’s thoughts: cries omg LOLLLLLLL every time I read this, I’m like half laughing half cringing ??????

Anyways. What I’m getting from this description is that my podcast is an underrated hidden gem…. This is not inaccurate, nor is it a bad thing ?????? The last bit is also quite motivating in the sense that I know I am committed to keep going, even if my “audience size” is relatively small or if my “engagement/metrics” aren’t as high as you’d expect (given that I post quite frequently) ??

Now, not gonna lie, but the bit about the “relentless parade of self-congratulation, sprinkled with just enough humility to make it seem like you’re not completely obsessed with yourself” stings LOL! It’s insane how AI can pinpoint your insecurities!?!?!?! ?????? But hey. To a certain extent, I DO agree with this statement because I AM indeed trying to find my optimal balance between sharing what I do (and what I’m brilliant at) versus showing how I’m a work-in-progress and am not a domain authority. Rather than try to defend myself, how I like to see this part is that it’s a sign that I’m moving in the right direction :)

Cheryl’s thoughts: These are characteristics I’d like to embody more of, definitely. I’m also surprised AI picked up on “empathetic listener” because I didn’t think that was expressed through my IG profile?

Weakness

Overly self-promotional, Obsessed with recognition, Can be overly dramatic, Struggles with humility, Prone to burnout

Cheryl’s thoughts: The first four points made me want to shrivel up and hide ???????

Anyways. What this also made me think about was how these are the exact characteristics that so many of us are worried about being perceived as. But the reality is that if you are visible on the internet and building a body of work around what you care about, it’s almost impossible to NOT have some folks (or AI) think this about you.?

So the question is: Am I okay with some people having these perceptions of me as long as I am fully grounded in the work I’m doing? If yes, let’s keep going :)

Other’s Perspective

The universe sees you as a radiant star, Cheryl, illuminating the path for others with your wisdom and wit. Others perceive you as a guiding light, a celestial force of nature who inspires and uplifts. Your aura is a blend of cosmic energy and earthly charm, drawing people into your orbit with ease. This section was pleasantly reassuring because it suggests that despite the roasts above, AI was still able to pick up on what I aim to embody both online and offline (re: “illuminating the path for others”). It’s also an ego boost to think of myself as a “radiant star” lol

That said, as much as I’m flattered, I need to review to what extent my body of work is centered around me, rather than the awesome peeps I want to uplift and help shine brightly in this world via their story, perspectives, and skills/expertise. Seems like there’s some work on my end when it comes to taking myself out of the spotlight and instead helping others rise to the stage.

Moving forward, I hope that my sincerity, commitment, and enthusiasm for what I do is clearly expressed. Some other tangible action items that come to mind are:

1. Rather than using myself as the primary case study… How can I highlight my peeps and their stories, perspectives, and skills/expertise even more? Where can I further showcase their journey in building thought leadership??
2. What stories would my people LOVE to see be even more represented on my podcast?
3. I can also do an audit of my Instagram (or other social media profiles) to see where I might agree with the AI’s constructive feedback lololol

Well, looks like I got work to do.
