AI Revolution Vs Global Financial Crisis 2.0 - Caught between a Rock and A Hard Place - V17

The following video discusses the potential impact of AI on the economy and the workforce.

The speaker acknowledges the benefits of AI and how it can augment human capabilities.
However, he also recognizes the potential threat to the workforce as robots and AI become more productive and efficient than humans.

He mentions that AI is already disrupting jobs that were previously considered safe, such as those of artists and creators.

The speaker also discusses:

  1. how AI is being used for pattern recognition in economics and investing, which could change productivity and affect the job market in ways that are difficult to predict.
  2. Despite the potential risks, the speaker believes that AI is inevitable and that investing in it is a way to prepare for the future.

AI is an exciting technology

AI is an exciting technology, but it poses a threat to our economy. To address this, people are looking at different approaches, such as augmentation of humans, and replacing ourselves with AI and machines. Robots are three or four times more productive than humans, and #Amazon warehouses are seeing a third of the Amazon Workforce being robots.

AI is disrupting jobs

AI is disrupting jobs, such as those of accountants, and artists and creators. It is also changing the way we think about AI strategy, such as in the late 90s when we thought about internet strategy. Moore's law and the exponential growth of AI are increasing exponentially, with #GPT going from zero to 100 million users in a month.

AI is like a virus, and two or three different people are building it at scale.

AI is becoming increasingly powerful due to increased computational power and the cost of computers. Raul believes that by the end of this decade #AGI will be able to navigate a grocery store, play chess, and navigate a room.

AI is predicted to become smarter than humans by the end of this decade,

But even before then, it will be a thousand times smarter than the smartest person who ever lived, which is three times 3x the difference between Einstein and a dumb person.

This is because Einstein gave us insights that created the nuclear bomb, nuclear power lasers, GPS, and so much of the modern world.

Ray Kurzweil and I differ in how we define the #singularity , which is borrowing an idea from cosmology that a black hole has an event horizon, where everything light and data information is pulled inside.

We have no idea what happens once we reach the event horizon, but technology is becoming an entirely different species. AI is expected to innovate so rapidly that it will no longer be able to predict the future, leading to the emergence of an event horizon.

This event horizon is expected to be within #our #lifetimes , and the singularity is the point where humans and robots merge. AI is being used in multiple ways, and people are integrating it into their own pipelines.
