MIL vs. AI: Real vs. Fake Science and Technology
Real AI as Machine Intelligence and Learning vs. False AI is undoubtedly the most disruptive technologies of the 21st century, and it is life-critical to create MIL as a real science and technology.
John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for discoveries that enabled machine learning with artificial neural networks and set the scene for today’s breakthroughs in AI.
Demis Hassabis and John Jumper were awarded the Nobel prize for developing an artificial intelligence (AI) model to predict the structures of almost all known proteins that can be used as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, nanomaterials and tiny sensors.
"The map is not the territory", "the menu is not the meal", "the model is not the data", "the word is not the thing", "the conceptual models of reality is not reality itself", "AI models are not AI itself", "AI is Reality Science and Technology".
What is Real Science and Technology?
I have shocked my wife when mentioned that many sciences are not non-sciences, as the humanities, history, psychology, religion or theology are non-sciences or un-sciences.
It seems many of us are confusing science, non-science, pseudoscience and un-science, as well as technology, non-technology, pseudo-technology and un-technology.
Philosophers fail to draw the line between?scientific theories?and pseudoscientific beliefs, like as "creationism,?astrology,?homeopathy,?Kirlian photography,?dowsing,?ufology,?ancient astronaut theory,?Velikovskian catastrophism, and?climate change denialism."
Unlike all the humanities, as history, as well as logic and mathematics, metaphysics or astrology or theology, AI is pseudoscience and pseudo-technology, claiming to be both?scientific?and factual and engineering but are incompatible with the study of reality, the?scientific method and engineering practice.
As false science, pseudoscience can be the result of research that is based on faulty assumptions, methods and interpretation, cognitive biases, a flawed experimental design or bad data, propagating disinformation, like data science, big data analytics, statistics and AI.
Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) adds a new dimension to the problem of disinformation, feely enabling for anyone to generate false information and fake content in vast quantities.
Real science aims at the world of reality, its facts and general truths, the wider the better. Any real scientific knowledge, domain, field or discipline implies scientific methods, empirical evidence and reproducible experimentation, inductive, abductive or deductive reasoning.
Science is not past, but future oriented; it gives causal explanations and makes predictions that allow us to plan and improve our futures.
Science is about physical, mental, social, technological, digital, virtual reality, divided into the interrelated sciences:
the natural sciences studying the physical world, as the matter and energy and their interactions
the mental sciences studying the mental world, as the mind and its mental processes
the social sciences studying the social world, as individuals and societies
the technological sciences studying the technological world, as emerging technologies and their transformations
the digital sciences studying the digital world, as digital technologies, ICT, electronic devices, software platforms. computation, algorithms and data, and their transformations...
There are three levels of its research, abstractions or concretizations:
Basic research, pure research,?fundamental research,?basic science, or?pure science, improving scientific?theories?for causal understanding and?prediction?of natural/mental/social/digital or other phenomena.
Applied research?uses scientific theories to develop?technology?or techniques, which can be used to intervene and?alter?natural/mental/social/digital or other phenomena.?
Industrial research, design, development?and innovation (IRDDI?or?I + R+D +D + I), the set of innovative activities undertaken by individuals, corporations or governments in developing new services or products.

AI as a False Science and Deepfake Technology
AI is preoccupied by the subjective, the particular and the past, statistics and correlations, as using historical data to make probabilistic predictions, when presumed as "the science of automating human intelligence using machines and computer programs that assist in making data-based decisions".
The mainstream human-like AI testing classifications rely on pseudoscientific assumptions.?contradictory, exaggerated or?unfalsifiable claims; reliance on?confirmation bias,
as artificial narrow intelligence, artificial general intelligence and artificial superintelligence, with broad classes of outcomes: optimal, super-human, high-human, par-human, sub-human.
AI as "simulating human intelligence processes in machines, computer systems" is a pseudo-science, or para-technology, while like all of the humanities, psychology, history, art or religion are non-sciences.

It refers to science, as alchemy to modern chemistry, or natural philosophy to modern physics. and technology to false technology, as deepfake technology generating realistic fake images, videos, speech, text and audio....
REAL AI needs to encode and understand reality and causality. Otherwise, it is a fake artificial intelligence and make-up learning systems, algorithms or applications, as Big Tech LLMs.
Its principal foundation is scientific world knowledge, conceptual frameworks, conceptual models of reality, encoded as the world modeling/simulating/understanding/interaction schema, methods, frameworks, algorithms and techniques, unifying human and machine intelligence.
Since any intelligent entity, be it humans. machine intelligence, robots or aliens. necessitates intelligence, intentionality and agency, to be able to encode, make sense and effectively interact with the world.
Today's AI tools as ChatGPT or Midjourney is to science as alchemy to chemistry, or natural philosophy to physics, being without any theoretical basis or scientific methods.
Text-to-text chatbots, such as ChatGPT or Gemini, or image generators, such as Midjourney, DALL-E or Stable Diffusion, can be used to create massive amounts of text as well as highly realistic fake audio, images and videos to spread misinformation and disinformation.
Now, human-mimicking AI implies algorithmic bias and discrimination, the mass destruction of jobs and even, some say, the extinction of humanity.
It is naive to believe, like Demis Hassabis and Yann LeCun, that a non-scientific AI could, they claim, "help humanity solve some of its biggest problems. radically accelerating the pace of scientific discovery, especially in areas such as medicine, climate science and green technology, and that AI can turbocharge scientific progress and lead to a golden age of discovery".
