Will AI put us out of work?

I've been hearing a lot of panicked comments about how artificial intelligence is going to take over and we're all going to be out of work. So, since LinkedIn prompted me, I thought I'd ask it to design the header for this newsletter. I chose the least cheesy one - you really don't want a child grinning at you when you're trying to get at serious media tips.

The above is what it came up with from the command "A LinkedIn header for my tip sheet on working with the media". My guess is that if you're looking at it on a computer you'll be shrugging and thinking "OK...", whereas if you're reading on your phone like so many you'll be surprised LinkedIn itself came up with something with such small lettering, particularly the sub-heading.

So no, I don't think it's a threat just yet. I do, however, think it's a useful prompt; if you've got that dreadful blank page thing where you're worried that you should be blogging about something but can't think what, asking ChatGPT for some subject headers can be a useful means of getting you started.

But no, I don't think it's going to take over absolutely everything just yet.

Video tip 2: the nature of feedback

I've been on my break - you can probably tell, it's why this week's tip sheet is mostly pre-recorded video tips! Here's one that went live yesterday.

Great article, Guy. But I see AI less as a job-stealer and more as a tool that's changing how we work. AI is freeing us up from the boring, repetitive stuff so we can focus on what really matters—creativity and strategy. It’s all about adapting and making AI work for us, not against us. Curious to hear how others are using AI in their day-to-day. Is it helping or hindering? We are trying to use it in everything we do.
