This will be the year that cybersecurity AI comes into its own. As organizations struggle with cybersecurity breaches, AI will be a force multiplier, enabling security teams to not only respond faster than cyber attackers can move, but also to anticipate these moves and act in advance.

The Facial Recognition Conversation Shifts

As we continue to co-exist with Covid, individuals will become more open to and comfortable with contact tracing and tracking.?While today’s headlines largely tout the negative impacts of surveillance and facial recognition technologies, in the coming year we could see more positive applications of those technologies as individuals embrace new ways to stay protected and safe.

AI Drives the Metaverse

This year AI will drive the ‘real world’ behavior of the digital assets within the metaverse. As an increasing number of physical assets and locations are digitized into the metaverse, they must have a constant stream of incoming data and physics-based models to enable them to ‘behave’ as they do in the real world. This will allow organization to test realistic and actionable scenarios in the metaverse that can be re-enacted in the real world.

AI Advances Health Care

To date, most life sciences and health care organizations have only scratched the surface with AI. Most early use cases focus on administrative tasks and basic automation. This year, we see huge strides in more sophisticated applications of AI in health care, providing clinical decision support for disease diagnosis and patient care delivery.

Organizations Take Action on AI Ethics

We’ll see a shift this year with AI ethics as meaningful conversations turn to action in terms of AI regulation and policies to ensure fair and trustworthy AI that is free from bias. The U.S. is leading the way in terms of AI adoption, and we have an obligation to take a leadership role in the formation of AI regulations and guardrails. However, as new regulations and policies emerge, they will vary based on geography, country and culture, similar to variations we have seen in privacy regulations.
