Top 5 Trending Tech Updates of the Week:
Fake Drake on the Weeknd
Isn't it both exciting and scary to know that a song featuring Drake and The Weeknd called “Heart on My Sleeve” has amassed more than 250,000 Spotify streams and 10 million views on TikTok? The funny thing is the two musicians did not go into the studio for the song — rather, an artist named “Ghostwriter”, used AI and their voices, to create the song.
That means AI cannot only write your cover letters, bulk SMSes, emails, and business proposals, but it can also create art on your behalf and top the charts without much of your input. Exciting times, huh?
Old is Still Gold. Text Marketing Continues its Rise
Get this. Even in 2023, brands are planning to spend more (and more) money on text message marketing campaigns. But there's good news and there's bad news.
The good news is: sales driven by text message marketing are growing faster than those from emails this year so far. No surprises there. The bad news, however, is, despite the upward momentum, brands are still wondering how often to reach out to customers over text and how they can do better with tailored content.
Yikes! Hackers are Stealing Crypto via Email Accounts
AT&T has confirmed that cybercriminals exploited an API issue to take control of victims' email addresses. Why? Well, it wasn't in order to steal secret emails or embarrassing photos, but much worse.
To use that access to hack into cryptocurrency exchange’s accounts and steal the victims' hard-earned crypto. Yup! Much worse.
Watch out! Generative AI & ChatGPT are Changing Contact Centres
Beyond simply being the "last line of defence", contact centres can serve as the hub and nerve centre of the entire customer experience.
AI can be introduced or reinforced to enable them to excel in complex missions and deliver exceptional service experiences.
This means enterprise-grade AI-driven contact centres could easily and effectively implement targeted processes and flows, integrate them with business systems and channels, and facilitate appropriate agent handover and augmentation.

Spotlight on Hyena Code
In the new paper, 'Hyena Hierarchy: Towards Larger Convolutional Language Models',?posted on the arXiv pre-print server, lead author Michael Poli of Stanford and his colleagues have proposed to replace Google's Transformer AI program (which is the basis for every one of the recent large language models including ChatGPT and GPT-4).
They are proposing to replace it with Hyena which solves the complexity of the attention function with something?sub-quadratic.
In layman's terms, there will be instances where the Hyena code will be able to handle amounts of text that make GPT-style technology simply run out of memory and fail - all the while using a fraction of the computing power!
