Are AI Photo Booths making their way into the Events Industry?
Whether it’s pure excitement or a tinge of fear, we’re on the verge of an AI revolution. This technology is making significant strides across various industries; the events industry is no exception. From working at Noonah, I am fascinated by how AI is shaking up our tech, so I’m particularly interested in the introduction of AI photo booths. AI will change the photo booth experience for events and brand activations, but where are the AI Photo Booths now?
So, as you may know, AI technology is continuously evolving, but I’m not sure anyone has quite nailed the AI photo booth yet. Some companies in the States have caught my eye and look reasonably good, but others merely include extra fancy filters, or the rest take 20 minutes to process. In reality, an AI Photo Booth is much more than that. A true AI Photo Booth uses AI-powered algorithms to enhance, generate, transform, or moderate a captured image of the user. These algorithms are more than just a filter or effect placed over the image. Instead, the AI uses machine learning, trained with thousands of images, to produce the best results. However, the processing time currently stands as a major stumbling block. A typical photo booth experience is instant, right? So if AI takes a huge amount of time to trawl through thousands of images each time it crafts the final artwork, the results will be some very unenthusiastic guests. ?
The best online AI photo software (that I’ve found) that can manipulate images is Midjourney, where the effects are genuinely entertaining and truly AI. But what I’ve noticed is that the prompts have to be super clear and precise to get the results you want; not only that, but you end up with multiple variations - meaning to find that one perfect outcome will take you three attempts and choosing between 12 results.
Once an AI Photo Booth is perfected and readily available, brands will likely use AI Photo Booths for specific campaigns or themed events. For instance, take the buzz around the Barbie film; now, imagine how cool it would be to turn your guests into Barbie characters using an on-site AI photo booth. I tested the brief out on some team members using Midjourney, and I can’t express my excitement if this idea were a live installation. If AI photo booths appear at live events, moderation would definitely need to be considered. Many brands have stringent guidelines, for example, no competitor visuals and no foul language; you get the idea, so the photo booth software would need to use a clever AI algorithm to sift these images out. All the usual stuff that our tech already handles.
Once these issues are overcome, AI photo booths are set to rule the experiential playground. We’ve already seen demand for this over the recent months; that’s why Noonah’s team of in-house developers and tech wizards are currently working on some fascinating developments that I can’t wait to share with you soon.
If you’ve found this article captivating and have some upcoming projects that would benefit from some AI magic, don’t hesitate to contact the team here at Noonah or me. We can work together and be at the forefront of this thrilling revolution in the events industry!
