Concern over Google ending ban on AI weapons

A leading human rights group has condemned Alphabet, Google's parent company, for lifting its longstanding ban on using artificial intelligence (AI) for weapon development and surveillance, calling the move "incredibly concerning." Alphabet has revised its AI guidelines, removing a section that previously prohibited applications "likely to cause harm." Human Rights Watch criticized the decision, telling the BBC that AI could "complicate accountability" in battlefield decisions with "life or death consequences."
