IoT Evolution: Where the Presence of AI meets the future with IoT.

AI is evolving rapidly, and while it may surpass the capabilities of its human developers, it still is working within the language sets it’s been fed. As we have seen with ChatGPT the large language sets can generate multiple answers to the same question, which helps with human creativity (including the writing of this post) It has its drawbacks when looking for definitive answers.

Enhancing the present data sets with the language sets of IoT brings a new capability to AI enabling dramatically improved predictive and prescriptive analysis.

For the United States it cannot come soon enough. The reality is that everywhere you turn our infrastructure is aging out and in need of updates and next generation solutions. Partly because the expertise that ran the systems is retiring and partly because the common components need to replace current systems are no longer being produced.

These problems are everywhere, and we need to replace what is aging out with upgradable software solutions.

Adapting Vint Cerf’s IP over Everything, we need to be saying AI over Everything.

We are embarking on a new era of application driven communication.

Application Driven Communication does not fit well into the old models of communication services, which is why Software as a Service (SaaS), and Managed Services Provider (MSPs) are growing rapidly. At the heart of this adoption is Internet Economics. Internet Economics enables applications to fit nicely into two business models.

Business Model Number 1. Cloud-based services (IP over Everything). Simply stated It Just gets there. No need to calculate the cost of transport because the Internet is already everywhere. So, the service is based on the value of the application without the need for communication costs to be included.

Business Model Number 2. Access based services (Everything over IP). In this model particular transport solutions are needed either for specific vertical applications (There’s a pun there) or requirements for a common campus infrastructure. This trickles down from Bluetooth to 6G and indicates that enterprise driven adoption and not based on Service Provider adoption (at least for the near future).

This is the focus of IoT Evolution 2025 not just a smart city but smart everything and not just industrial IoT but Industrial AI / IoT.
