AI Opportunities in the new Justice AI Unit in the UK

Earlier this week, I shared about my role as a senior AI fellow at the Ministry of Justice in the UK.? This is in addition to my work at Oxford and my various other projects - all of which also continue.?

I also said that we were recruiting for #AI opportunities.?

In this post, I shall share some views on the recruitment / roles we are looking for and my perspectives for these .?

We all know that? AI has the potential to transform our lives - but implementing AI at scale has many unique considerations

1. Firstly, a commitment to safety and ethics

2.? Then, looking beyond the technology, to people, processes and the management of change

3. Compliance, standards and ethics

4.? Developing these services at scale also involves a pragmatic approach to selecting and prototyping use cases to ensure that we ship AI in an agile manner?

To implement these considerations, I believe that as a team, we need to develop two critical capabilities:

1. Develop AI that can empower people (AI assistant / copilot etc) and
2. Develop the next generation of AI leaders / adopters - both for technology but also within the justice sector?

The Justice AI Unit is a new specialised team within the Ministry of Justice focused on developing AI tools to enhance public services in the justice sector.??
