  2. Samsung has introduced GAUSS2, a multimodal generative AI model capable of processing and generating text, images and audio at the Samsung Developer Conference Korea 2024. This advancement aims to enhance user experiences across various applications, including content creation and virtual assistants with GAUSS2 designed to understand and generate diverse data types.
  3. Singapore and the European Union have formalized a collaboration to enhance AI safety through an Administrative Arrangement. This partnership aims to promote technological innovation and the responsible use of safe, trustworthy, and human-centric AI. Key areas of cooperation include sharing expertise, developing evaluation frameworks for AI models, and advancing joint research initiatives to manage and mitigate AI-related risks.
  4. Uber Technologies Inc. is reportedly planning to invest over $10 million in the U.S. IPO of China's autonomous driving firm, Pony.ai. This strategic move may also involve Uber utilizing Pony.ai's technology in markets outside the United States.
  5. Together AI and Lambda, startups specializing in renting servers are actively seeking new funding to compete with major cloud providers. Together AI is in discussions to raise at least $200 million, having recently surpassed $100 million in annualized revenue.
  6. South Korea has achieved a significant milestone by ranking third globally in AI security patent filings, following the United States and China. Notably, Naver Labs, a subsidiary of Naver Corporation, has emerged as a leader in spatial intelligence, amassing over 500 patents in areas such as digital twins, AR/VR, robotics, and autonomous driving.
  7. AMD has announced a $400 million investment in India through 2028, emphasizing the strategic importance of its Bengaluru research and development hub, which employs over 8,000 people. CEO Lisa Su highlighted collaborations with the Indian government to develop supercomputers for weather forecasting and the potential of AI as a transformative technology.
  8. Navosoft has launched an AI-driven platform tailored for Australian cryptocurrency investors, aiming to enhance trading strategies and risk management. The platform utilizes advanced machine learning algorithms to analyze market data, providing users with real-time insights and predictive analytics to inform investment decisions.
  9. Singapore's economy experienced a significant boost in the third quarter of 2024, with GDP growth revised upward to 5.4% year-on-year, surpassing the initial estimate of 4.1%. This robust performance is largely attributed to a resurgence in the electronics sector.
  10. Equinix, Inc. has announced plans to invest $260 million in constructing its sixth International data center in Singapore, named SG6. Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027, the nine-story facility will provide 20 megawatts of capacity upon full completion and is designed to support compute-intensive workloads, including AI.
  11. China has introduced new guidelines to enhance the regulation of AI, focusing on ethical standards, data security, transparency, safety, user consent, and regulatory oversight. Companies are now required to implement robust data protection measures, conduct regular risk assessments and provide users with clear information and control over AI interactions.
  12. India has launched its first AI data bank to foster innovation and enhance national security. Unveiled by Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, the initiative provides researchers, startups and developers with access to high-quality, diverse datasets essential for scalable AI solutions.
  13. A six-month trial involving over 7,600 Australian public servants across more than 60 government agencies demonstrated that integrating Microsoft 365 Copilot, saved employees an average of one hour per day. The trial, coordinated by Australia's Digital Transformation Agency, revealed that 77% of participants were satisfied with the AI integration, and 86% expressed a desire to continue using it.
  14. The convergence of AI and design is revolutionizing innovation by enabling a broader spectrum of young talent to become innovators. Tai Lee Siang, Deputy President and Chief Innovation and Enterprise Officer at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, emphasizes that this fusion is a game changer, fostering creativity and expanding opportunities in the tech industry.
  15. Fujikura, a 139-year-old Japanese cable manufacturer, has experienced a remarkable surge in its stock value, rising over 400% this year. This growth is attributed to the global expansion of AI, which has increased demand for data center infrastructure, including Fujikura's wire cabling products. Fujikura's success exemplifies how traditional industries can thrive by aligning with emerging technological trends.
