AI IS THE NEW ERA OF JOBS
The boom of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought about an underlying fear of AI replacing human jobs. However, is this really the case? Or, could AI be a blessing to the jobs industry?
AI have led to a breakthrough in human efficiency and many industries globally have already leveraged on this technology to enhance its business model. This has undoubtedly heightened the caution of AI dominating a large majority of the jobs market in the future.
However, World Economic Forum (WEF) has stated that, despite the expected displacement of 75 million jobs, between 2019-2021, AI and deep learning technologies will create up to 133 million new roles, translating to a 58 million net gain of new jobs.
Instead of taking over jobs, AI reshapes the nature of a job. For example, while AI handles various repetitive and system-based tasks, more manpower can go towards managing the dynamic aspects of a job, such as process modification and decision making. AI, together with its revolutionary technologies, also creates new insights which paves the way for new directions, opportunities and roles for mankind. We can see that the increased implementation of AI has expanded the jobs market for cybersecurity. There is a pressing need for security experts, engineers and developers to counter various online threats of data leakage or software malfunction etc.
AI is incorporated in many industries to speed up daily work such that more time can be spent on activities that bring about greater benefits. It is not taking over our jobs but instead, it is creating an era of more dynamic jobs which will increase the efficiency and productivity of the human race.

4 年This is so true Callum Bir. The same impact has happened in the past, the Industrial revolution. It resulted in creating many advanced jobs, one could ever imagine at that time. In the same way, I believe, AI will bring similar consequences.
