AI Monthly: Navigating AI at Work
Sylvain Duranton

Dear AI Enthusiasts,?
The landscape of work is transforming before our eyes as GenAI ripples through the global economy. BCG X’s new survey, "AI at Work: Friend and Foe," which includes insights from more than 13,000 employees across 15 countries and regions, reveals a fascinating paradox that's shaping the future of our workplaces, particularly in office-based roles.?
The numbers are striking: About half of employees are saving at least five hours a week by using GenAI at work. This productivity boost is allowing them to take on more tasks, experiment with AI, and focus on strategic work. Yet, beneath this surge in efficiency lies a current of uncertainty – nearly half of regular GenAI users believe their job may disappear in the next ten years.?
Our global survey paints a picture of both excitement and apprehension. While nearly two-thirds of leaders (64%) said they are starting to use GenAI to reshape their organizations, frontline workers are grappling with insufficient time to learn the tools and ineffective training.?
Interestingly, the Global South is emerging as a beacon of AI optimism, showing higher adoption rates and more positive attitudes towards GenAI than their Global North counterparts. This shift could reshape global competitive landscapes in unexpected ways.?
As we navigate this AI-driven transformation, one thing is clear: the key to unlocking GenAI's full potential lies in effective training and a mindful approach to change management. It's not just about the technology – it's about how we adapt our organizations and our mindsets to embrace this new era of work.?
The GenAI revolution is not just coming – it's already here, and it’s reshaping the very nature of work as we know it.?
Stay ahead of the GenAI surge,?
