AI Meets Design: Unleash Canva's Magical New Tools for Creators

As someone who uses Canva almost, if not, daily, I am over the moon about the new Glow Up.

Canva describes Glow Up as “everything you know and love but with a whole new look and feel, and purpose-built for a focused creative experience.”

Based on my experience so far, they have achieved that, and then some.

From the improved organization and Star features to the AI-powered tools, Canva has elevated its platform to meet the needs of creators and businesses alike.

CANVA GLOW UP INTRODUCTION

Canva’s PPT presentation goes through many of the new features. Here are 7

??More space to play in the editor - new side panel gets out of your way when you don’t need it.

??Features like "Animate" to enhance designs – like animated text on video (see AI video below)

??More editing options – such as adding effects to a photo

??Harness the power of AI – like Magic Grab and AI Video Generator (see below)

??More efficient commenting – for better team collaboration (FYI, I don’t use teams)

CANVA STAR FEATURE

This is a game-changer for me. I love Canva, but trying to find stuff has always been a challenge. Canva’s Brand Hub made some things easier, like providing a central place for brand colors, logos, templates, etc.

It didn’t make it easier to find designs. At least for me.

Think of Canva’s “Star” feature like having the ability to “Star” your favorite people in LinkedIn Messenger.

CANVA AI VIDEO GENERATOR

Canva’s AI video generator, which even adds music, is already one of my favorite new features. Yes, it’s not perfect. I had to do a bit more than “tweak” the AI-created video.

However, it’s faster and easier to edit and revise a video, particularly with the ease of Canva editing, than to start from scratch.

Kind of the way it’s easier to edit AI-generated content, than to begin with a blank page.

Steps to use Canva’s AI Video Generator

??Choose a video format (I chose mobile video)

??Click on “Generate videos instantly

??Choose images from your upload file (so plan ahead)

??Click Generate

??AI creates a video, including music

??Edit and revise your video

CANVA DESIGNS ORGANIZATION

Canva’s new “Create a Design” layout makes it easier to choose the right format for whatever you’re creating. Rather than the former list, primarily of social media formats, the new layout organizes designs into 6 categories:

CANVA AI MAGIC STUDIO

I would be remiss if I didn’t include Magic Erase and Magic Grab in this article. Both have been around for a while, and I’ve covered them before. But I think they are fabulous.

Magic Eraser is pretty self-explanatory. Don’t want something in the photo? Erase it. That works great for oddly placed plants or people you don’t need in the scene.’

Magic Grab allows you to “grab” an image from a photo and insert it in another photo.

Let’s say you want to replace a cat lying on the sofa with their person with a dog.

Erase the cat and grab the dog and magic.
