AI in Marketing: the Trust Factor
In the era of digital innovation, we find ourselves at the crossroads of human connection and artificial intelligence. A recent article caught my eye, revealing a marketing company's foray into the realm of AI influencers. Picture this: an influencer, not born of flesh and blood, but meticulously crafted through lines of code, showcasing products on Instagram with the finesse of a seasoned trendsetter, complete with colored hair, trim waist and a D cup.
?? The Rise of AI Influencers
The concept is undeniably fascinating — a digital entity influencing consumer choices and trends. This brings us face-to-face with the immense potential of AI in marketing, opening up new frontiers for creativity and engagement. Yet, as we delve deeper, a poignant truth emerges.
?? Authenticity in Relationship Marketing
The heart of marketing lies in the connections we foster. No matter the technological leaps, the essence of a small business owner creating and maintaining a genuine relationship with their customers remains unparalleled. In the race for attention, it becomes evident that authenticity wins all races. In fact, it is the biggest advantage a local business owner has over a global competitor.
?? AI as a Tool, Not a Substitute

AI is a powerful tool, but it should complement, not replace, the human touch. Small business owners possess a unique ability to resonate with their audience, to understand the heartbeat of their community. The authenticity they bring to the table builds trust, a currency that transcends algorithms and digital influencers. So what happens when Joe Smith talks about his company on video? Will we get to a point where no one is authentically sharing themselves with customers online or on TV? Will people distrust anyone they do not see in person? Time will tell how this will impact future outreach.
?? Nurturing Genuine Connections
In the realm of relationship marketing, every interaction is a seed planted in the fertile soil of authenticity. It's the personalized email, the thoughtful response, the acknowledgment of a loyal customer — these are the elements that construct a tapestry of trust. Many of these touch points can be automated, but that does not replace the need for real human interaction.
?? Conclusion: The Authentic Advantage
While AI influencers may dazzle with their digital charisma, the heartbeat of real connections remains the beating pulse of enduring success. While things become blurred to the consumer, small business owners should find ways to remind customers of their genuine, authentic desire to be of service.
?? Food for Thought: What's your take on the intersection of AI and authenticity in marketing? How will consumers react to the knowledge their favorite influencer, or mentor is not really in front of the camera?

But you must remember or think about all the business owners who were prospects or clients who self-professed that they were introverts. Can we deny them the excitement of creating a live, actionable AI composite of themselves to perform online? Hiring an AI Influencer rather than a human influencer for marketing will require an evaluation done with A -B tests and analytic results during campaigns. I am intrigued by learning about performance outcomes and am open to giving it a shot. We are conducting research in our firm that involves creating a cloned version of "you" using AI.
