ChatGPT Picks The Right Content for Your Campaign

Adopting AI in marketing has been a hot topic ever since ChatGPT astonished the world with its incredible capabilities. With so many applications, you might wonder: how can AI optimize marketing campaigns?

A/B testing for ad campaigns has been a best practice for optimization. But here's a thought—before launching an ad campaign, why not ask AI for its opinion first?

I decided to try this out by running a little experiment with 10 campaigns featuring A/B images. And guess what? ChatGPT accurately predicted the performance results for all of them!

Let me take you through what happened.

Step 1: Translating Visuals into Text

First, I asked ChatGPT to translate A/B images into text, so that I could ensure it was seeing what I was seeing.

Step 2: Predicting Performance

Next, I asked ChatGPT to determine, from the perspective of a potential buyer, which of the two images would attract more attention. Essentially, I wanted to know: if you were in this target role, which image would you prefer?

ChatGPT chose the second image—and it was spot on! In fact, the second image showed a 55% higher click-through rate (CTR), and an 89% drop in cost per lead (CPL) in actual campaign.

More importantly, ChatGPT provided valuable insights into the target customer, which helped the advertiser understand the audience better. With this clearer understanding, the advertiser could now create content that resonates more effectively and achieves better results.

Audience Segmentation Insights

One of the most impressive aspects of this experiment was how ChatGPT predicted performance differences based on audience segments.

I asked ChatGPT to evaluate two images based on their appeal to different roles—specifically, CEOs versus entry-level employees.

ChatGPT's analysis highlighted that certain visuals resonate more with decision-makers, while others appeal better to junior employees. This was confirmed by the campaign results.

This perfectly illustrated why tailoring content to specific audience segments is crucial. It showed that using generic product images isn't enough to capture the attention of decision-makers—you need content that speaks directly to their unique needs and perspectives.

AI's Role in Marketing Strategy

This experiment proved to me that ChatGPT can be a powerful ally in marketing strategy and content planning. Its ability to pre-check campaigns, understand different audience segments, and offer detailed insights can make a world of difference.
