AI will Make Solana More Profitable
The Solana Foundation has recently highlighted several artificial intelligence-related activities taking place on the Solana platform. These activities range from chatbots and accelerators to grant programs, and they are bringing a significant shift to the blockchain network.
In a recent conversation with Jonathan Abramovich, who oversees infrastructure business development for the Solana Foundation, Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs, shared his insights on the role of AI and how it can enhance the user experience and understanding of Solana.
Yakovenko's Vision for AI
Yakovenko praised the capabilities of AI, particularly the natural language interface of models like ChatGPT. He compared the transformative impact of AI to that of Microsoft Windows and the computer mouse, emphasizing that AI is ushering in a similar revolution. He also stressed the importance of developers considering how AI models will interact with their consumer-oriented apps because it represents a new way of instructing computers.
The CEO of Solana Labs expressed his belief that AI will make Solana more user-friendly and intuitive. In a trustless blockchain environment, an AI capable of deploying smart contracts and executing transactions could outperform centralized financial services.
Yakovenko advocates allocating resources to explore AI's potential and providing developers with reference examples to facilitate app development in this AI-driven environment.
Solana's Unique Position in AI Integration
Discussing the ChatGPT plugin, Yakovenko explained that its primary function is to serve as a text-based block explorer, decoding on-chain objects. While it currently doesn't support minting NFT sets, Yakovenko envisions a future where this will be possible.
Solana's advantages in terms of cost and speed distinguish it, creating an environment conducive to executing transactions within a ChatGPT framework. Yakovenko emphasized that these factors are crucial for delivering an exceptional user experience.

AI: The Present and Future for Solana
Currently, Solana is focused on exploring AI's capabilities. Yakovenko encourages developers to write plugins and experiment, acknowledging that the exact path AI will take remains uncertain. However, he finds the potential changes it can bring to be exciting, likening current AI capabilities to the futuristic computers in Star Trek.
AI has already begun to influence how developers understand and document code. Yakovenko envisions a future where AI could assist in generating code for smart contracts, identifying bugs, writing test code, and even detecting vulnerabilities.
When asked about AI's potential role in monitoring validator data, Yakovenko expressed interest, hinting at the possibility of AI-optimized tools for data monitoring.
Yakovenko also considered AI's potential to handle the increased data expected with the launch of Firedancer, a unique code base Solana is working on. He speculated that a sophisticated AI could analyze two code bases to generate a third one.
AI's Role in Future Solana Applications
Regarding AI's specific applications in Solana, Yakovenko predicts differentiation based on training data. He suggests that updated data sources could emerge from crowd-funded, crypto-based projects, such as Hivemapper.
He envisions a scenario where an AI plugin could generate an entire NFT set based on specific criteria, mint them on-chain, create a Discord group, answer questions, and even develop lore and stories.
When asked whether such automation would replace human work, Yakovenko clarified, "No, it doesn't eliminate the enjoyable tasks – it simply handles the tedious and challenging ones."
