New Jobs, New Challenges
The role of AI in automation is transforming industries and the job market. But rather than wiping out opportunities, it’s creating new ones. Curious about what this means for your career?
In a recent interview with Luke Williams, Group Head of AI at Intergage, we explored how AI is reshaping the job landscape and what this means for professionals moving forward.?
While AI is taking on tasks like optimising model usage to cut costs, Luke explained humans are still essential. Why? Because overseeing these systems, managing workflows, and creating playbooks for AI use cases are jobs that can’t yet be fully automated.
He suggested that some job roles might evolve to support AI functions, potentially leading to certain positions transitioning into more managerial roles.
How AI is Changing Content Creation
Luke explained how the process is evolving from writing to fact-checking and editing. With AI generating huge volumes of content, there’s more focus on ensuring it’s accurate, reliable, and high quality.
Why does this matter? Luke states as AI-generated misinformation becomes a real risk, the ability to spot and address inaccuracies could make or break reputations. In fact Luke believes we are heading towards a time when poorly managed AI content could lead to legal scandals or major trust issues.
Workflow and AI
Campaigns are now more scalable than ever, but unlocking AI’s potential requires skilled professionals. Tools like Microsoft Copilot and business-specific language models are on the rise, bringing new roles like knowledge managers into the spotlight.
These experts train and maintain AI systems, ensuring they deliver results aligned with business goals.
Combating AI Misuse
Luke was also clear that AI isn’t just a tool for progress - it also comes with challenges, like deep fakes and disinformation. Tackling these issues will require sharp critical evaluation skills. For future-proofing your career, understanding how to detect and handle AI misuse is essential.
And it’s not just professionals who need this. Education systems must step up to teach the next generation how to navigate an AI-driven world.

AI’s Current Limitations
While generative AI is improving, it’s not perfect. Tools like text-to-video generators are still ironing out kinks, like creating realistic movement or consistent imagery. Even high-profile models sometimes fall short, producing outputs that feel slightly... off.
That’s where humans come in, to bridge the gap between AI’s capabilities and its flaws.
What This Means for Careers
So, what skills should you focus on to thrive in this AI-driven landscape??
Critical Thinking - The ability to assess AI-generated content and spot inaccuracies.
Data Management - Prepping data for AI systems to ensure they perform at their best.
Ethical Oversight - Keeping AI usage fair, transparent, and trustworthy.
The bottom line? As AI evolves, so will the demand for professionals who can keep it reliable, accurate, and ethical.
Ready to step up and meet the challenge? The opportunities are out there, you just need the skills to seize them.?
