AI + IoT = AIoT

AI + IoT = AIoT

Internet of Things as such is an old concept, where billions of intelligent embedded devices connect with large computing systems. But the actual term “Internet of Things” was coined by Kevin Ashton in 1999 during his work at Procter & Gamble. As per Wikipedia The Internet of things (IoT) describes physical objects (or groups of such objects) that are embedded with sensors, processing ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the Internet or other communications networks.

This network of the connected devices gather a huge volume of data in the scale of quintillion bytes. Till now the main role of IOT have been on collection of data and taking a few fixed commands. As soon as the data gets dumped on a dashboard in form of some graphs and tables the whole purpose of the data collection is defeated. Data without any insight or action is of no use.

To make full use of Internet of things we would need huge bandwidth with high upload speeds (5G), huge storage (BIG DATA) and high computation (Cloud computing). Once all these are achieved we would need AI to provide relevant information which can be further utilized.

5G?is the 5th generation mobile network meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability.

Big data?helps to deal with data sets that are too large or complex to be dealt with by traditional data-processing application software

Cloud Computing?provides on-demand access to computing resources—applications, servers, data storage, development tools, networking capabilities etc which can Scale more easily and cost-effectively

As per projections, by 2025, there will be 42 billion IoT-connected devices globally and this number will keep growing and the data gathered will also grow. That’s where AI steps in. This partnership of AI and IOT (AIoT) will lead to a smarter future sooner then expected.

AIoT would have a huge impact on segments like wearable, smart home, smart cities and smart industries. Smart wearable will have a huge impact on healthtech but also will impact sport and fitness, while smart home, smart cities will make the life easy for the consumers. Smart industries will lead to more efficient processes and reduce human error
