The AI Latest News

  • The new GPT-4 Turbo is now available to paid ChatGPT users. This latest model, trained on data up to December 2023, improves writing, math, logic, and coding abilities, ensuring responses are more direct and conversational. The upgrade is part of a broader release that includes GPT-4 Turbo with Vision, adding image understanding capabilities.
  • Elon Musk's xAI has recently introduced Grok 1.5 Vision, an enhanced version of its AI model, Grok 1.5. This new model incorporates computer vision, enabling it to process and respond to visual media, a capability unveiled shortly after OpenAI announced its vision-enabled GPT-4 model. This multimodal upgrade significantly expands the model's applicability by enabling it to handle diverse visual inputs like documents, charts, screenshots, and photos.
  • Meta is testing its AI technology on WhatsApp and Instagram in India and Africa, aiming to enhance user interaction. On WhatsApp users in the test regions can interact with Meta AI to organize schedules, search for recipes, and more, following an invite directly within their chats. The feature is rolling out slowly for Instagram - selected users can enhance their posts with AI-generated captions, filters, and hashtag suggestions.


Elon Musk predicts superhuman AI will be smarter than people next year

Elon Musk has adjusted his forecast for the development of superhuman Artificial Intelligence, predicting that AI smarter than any individual human could emerge by the end of next year. This prediction, announced during a livestreamed interview on his social network X, represents a significant advancement from his previous estimate that superintelligent AI would arrive by 2029. Musk noted, however, that this progress might be constrained by increasing power demands and shortages of advanced AI training chips. These limitations have shifted from a focus on chip availability last year to voltage transformer supplies this year, and are expected to become predominantly about electricity supply in the near future.


HR Adopts AI

The use of AI in Human Resources has seen significant growth, with approximately 25% of organizations now using AI to enhance HR functions, largely within the last year, according to a study by SHRM. AI adoption is most prevalent in large organizations and sectors such as technology, finance, and information.

Here are some key findings and statistics:

- Nearly 30% of organizations using AI have actively trained and upskilled employees to work alongside AI technologies.

- 61% of HR professionals are optimistic about the effective use of AI in their organizations.

- 56% believe AI will improve collaboration, and 75% agree it will increase the importance of human intelligence in the workplace over the next five years.

- The main applications of AI in HR include talent acquisition (64%), learning and development (43%), and performance management (25%).

HR leaders are exploring AI to drive productivity, enhance the employee experience, and foster innovation. However, 24% express concerns about AI leading to job displacement. As AI reshapes job roles, the focus shifts towards augmenting tasks rather than replacing jobs, aiming to evolve roles and enhance human-AI collaboration in the workplace.
