Azure adds real-time speech to GPT-4o for voice-powered apps?

Microsoft Azure has launched a preview of its GPT-4o-Realtime API, integrating advanced audio and speech capabilities into the Azure OpenAI Service. This update allows developers to create real-time, voice-driven applications with audio input and output, enabling natural conversations and faster response times. The model also supports multilingual interactions, offering a versatile tool for industries like virtual assistants and customer service. This feature provides smoother, more engaging user experiences.?

Harnessing real-time knowledge with GenAI?

All LLMs have a knowledge cutoff date? , meaning they only have access to information available up until a certain point. In other words, their training data doesn’t include events or developments that happened after the training began. This is a serious drawback in business scenarios, where access to real-time data is critical.?

Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem: function calling. This is the capability of LLMs to execute a specific operation allowing developers to integrate the LLM with external tools, APIs, or functions, enabling the AI to perform tasks beyond generating text. In this way, an LLM-powered solution can retrieve real-time data, e.g., sales figures from a CRM system or stock exchange prices.?

Will large context windows kill RAG pipelines??

Traditionally, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines have been essential for LLMs to access external information. However, with the advent of large context windows that can handle even 1 million tokens (roughly 700,000 words), the future of RAG pipelines is uncertain. Could this innovation make RAG pipelines obsolete, or will they continue to play a crucial role? Discover how large context windows might reshape AI’s ability to process and retrieve information, and what this means for businesses that rely on AI-driven solutions.?
